Job summary

Goldman Sachs is seeking a seasoned Cloud Platform Engineer to lead the definition and promotion of cloud engineering best practices, automate provisioning with Terraform, and ensure scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure across regions. • 7+ years’ experience with cloud services in multi-region deployments.
• Experience with version control, CI/CD, deployment, and configuration management in a DevOps environment.
• Experience meeting demands for high availability and scale.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively, both written and orally, and collaborate across diverse tech teams.
• Ability to rapidly translate requirements into technical solutions.

The Team:

The Cloud Platform Engineering team is a global team responsible for engineering public cloud solutions to support our Payment Orchestration and Execution Platform. Working in close partnership with application teams building the new system, the team is responsible for identifying and securing the public cloud services required, automating their provisioning, and building a highly resilient and scalable infrastructure which will differentiate our offering from the competition.

We are seeking highly collaborative, creative and intellectually curious leaders who are passionate about building and operating cutting-edge cloud capabilities. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly demanding environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Help to define, communicate and promote cloud engineering best practices for public cloud application deployment across the department.
• Automate the provisioning of cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present, persuade and influence peers, vendors and executives.
• Energetic, self-directed, and self-motivated, able to build and sustain long-term relationships across a multitude of stakeholders in a fast paced, multi-directional work environment.
• Exceptional analytical skills, able to apply expertise to drive complex, technical and highlycommercial solutions.
• Experience supporting complex production application environments.

Basic Qualifications:

• 7+ years’ experience working with cloud services in multi-region deployments.
• Experience with version control, continuous integration, deployment, and configuration management tools in a DevOps environment.
• Experience meeting demands for high availability and scale.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively, both written and orally, as well as the interpersonal skills required to collaborate effectively with colleagues across diverse technology teams.
• Ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate requirements into technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Team Lead experience managing teams of 10 or more engineers while retaining hands-on expertise with a diverse set of cloud services.
• Experience working in a Linux environment, including system engineering, high availability design, performance analysis, network troubleshooting.
• Hands on experience in Amazon web services, such as Cloudwatch, EC2, ECS, IAM and KMS.
• Hands on experience with API Gateways (Kong) and messaging (Kafka).
• Hands on experience with RDS Aurora or DynamoDB.
• Experience using infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Experience using CICD (preferably Gitlab)
