Job summary

Jobtailor invites a seasoned Gas Turbine Control System engineer to lead Ovation control logic implementation, hardware integration, and system validation on customer sites. You will develop software and hardware interfaces, review bills of materials, coordinate with US-led teams, perform FATs and commissioning, and provide post-install support with a focus on reliability and safety.

The role requires 5+ years of experience and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in control & instrumentation, power or electrical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Gas Turbine Control System hardware/software development and validation.
• Experience with major turbine manufacturers or controls vendors (e.g., GE, Siemens, ABB, Mitsubishi, Hitachi).
• Proficiency with Ovation or similar DCS platforms and control algorithms.
• Strong English communication and travel readiness.

Job description

• Execute hardware and software controls engineering
• Technically evaluate bids against specifications
• Develop and review bills of materials, network architecture, and GA drawings
• Support vendor selection
• Implement Ovation control logic and graphics for gas turbine control systems
• Test, verify, and document Ovation control system performance using a Gas Turbine Simulator
• Develop narrative control documents describing gas turbine operation, alarms, and trips
• Conduct Software/Hardware Design Reviews and Factory Acceptance Tests with customers
• Provide installation, commissioning, and post-installation customer service support
• Participate in internal and customer Kickoff Meetings
• Coordinate with the US lead engineer on control and graphics design/implementation
• Track project budgets, progress, and quality and report periodically to front offices
• Prepare site execution plans with the project manager
• Lead site teams during Ovation system power-up, redundancy, I/O, analog, binary device, and fault-finding tests
• Maintain protocols for loop checks, device checks, and panel charging
• Diagnose faults in Ovation, network systems, and OPC, Modbus, DNP3, and serial communication interfaces
• Modify logic, graphics, and databases based on customer/site requirements
• Troubleshoot hardware and software with engineering teams, including controllers, modules, and link modules
• Commission systems for commercial operation
• Engage customers and vendors on technical commissioning matters, report progress, and flag roadblocks to site/project managers
• Prepare site reports and coordinate with vendors and front offices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in control & Instrumentation, power or electrical engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Gas Turbine Control System hardware and software development, implementation, testing and validation
• Experience working for a major turbine manufacturer or turbine controls vendor, such as GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, ABB, Alstom, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, or Toshiba
• Gas Turbine control algorithm knowledge, including Fuel Governor, Sequencing and Auxiliaries, AGC, Isochronous and Droop controls
• Experience with ISA and SAMA logic symbols and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
• Proficiency configuring databases, logic, and HMIs of one or more DCS platforms, such as Emerson Ovation, ABB/Bailey INFI 90, Siemens T3000, GE Mark V/VI, Mitsubishi DIASYS Netmation, Invensys, or Woodward Micronet
• Gas Turbine process knowledge
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
• Advanced troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers
• Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written
• Ability and willingness to travel as required
• Ability to influence others and lead small teams
