About The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Functional Architect to operate horizontally across multiple business domains, including Education, Commerce, Industrial, and Compliance platforms.

This is a high‑impact role responsible for shaping functional system design, domain models, and non‑functional requirements (NFRs) across a diverse product ecosystem.

This is not a siloed role. You’ll sit at the intersection of business strategy, system design, and technology execution, ensuring consistency, scalability, and clarity across platforms.

An AI‑driven mindset is essential. We’re looking for someone who actively uses AI tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, and architectural thinking—not just as an add‑on, but as part of everyday workflows.

What You’ll Own (Functional Architecture)

• Define and maintain functional system design across multiple domains
• Create domain models, business object definitions, and entity relationships
• Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications
• Establish shared vocabularies, data contracts, and reusable patterns
• Define integration boundaries and service responsibilities

Non‑Functional Requirements (NFRs)

• Own NFRs from day one—not as an afterthought
• Performance
• Scalability
• Security
• Reliability

• Availability
• Define architecture guardrails (latency, auditability, data residency)
• Identify cross‑cutting concerns (auth, audit logs, multi‑tenancy)
• Review designs for functional and NFR alignment

AI‑Driven System Thinking

• Use AI tools (LLMs, copilots, automation) to analyze complex or legacy systems
• Accelerate documentation and functional modeling
• Support refactoring and modernization decisions
• Improve system understanding and collaboration
• Design systems that are AI‑ready: modular, API‑first, event‑driven architectures
• Data models compatible with search, analytics, and AI use cases

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Act as the functional authority across product and engineering teams
• Partner with Product Managers to translate strategy into architecture
• Facilitate domain modeling workshops with business stakeholders
• Identify and resolve gaps between business intent and system behavior

Domains You’ll Work Across

• Education: SaaS platforms, LMS integrations, identity federation
• Commerce: POS systems, inventory workflows, event‑driven pipelines
• Industrial: B2B platforms, pricing engines, CRM integrations
• Compliance: Audit systems, regulatory workflows, document management

(Deep expertise in every domain isn’t required—strong pattern recognition and adaptability are.)

Required Experience

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years in software, solution, or functional architecture
• Strong experience bridging business requirements and system design
• Proven ownership of functional architecture and NFRs
• Experience working across multiple products or business domains
• Hands‑on use of AI tools in architecture, analysis, or documentation

Technical Foundation

• API design (REST, event‑driven)
• Data modeling (relational and document‑based)
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Microservices / service‑oriented architecture
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts

Functional & Collaboration Skills

• Business process modeling (BPMN, UML, or similar)
• Functional specification authoring
• Stakeholder facilitation and workshops
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Comfort working in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments

Nice to Have

• Experience modernizing legacy systems
• Exposure to regulated or compliance‑heavy systems
• SaaS or multi‑tenant platform background
• Familiarity with architecture governance practices (ADRs, design reviews)
