Job summary

State Street is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with enterprise software and cloud-native architecture experience in Bengaluru. You will lead architecture and execution for a pod, define technical direction, and own delivery commitments while collaborating with product owners and platform teams to ensure scalable, secure and maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8–14 years of experience in full-stack or enterprise software engineering with leadership.
• Deep expertise in Python and/or Java, and frontend frameworks such as React and/or Angular.
• Strong experience designing and operating enterprise-scale, cloud-native applications on AWS and/or Azure.
• Proven experience with microservices, API design, distributed systems, and high-availability/low-latency platforms.
• Experience leading a pod, team, or major technical workstream including mentoring and delivery management.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, containers, Kubernetes, observability, and secure software delivery.
• Experience with database design, performance optimization, and enterprise interoperability.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and technical design for a platform area or major feature set aligned with standards.
• Own technical delivery commitments for the pod including scope, quality, timelines, and maintainability.
• Define and enforce engineering standards across the pod for design reviews, testing, mCI/CD, observability, security, and documentation.
• Design and oversee backend services, frontend apps, APIs, data flows, and integration patterns.
• Guide decisions on microservices, low-latency design, resilience, and cloud-native deployment.
• Translate roadmap priorities into executable technical plans and milestones with product owners.
• Review designs and code to ensure performance, consistency, and guardrail compliance.
• Drive production excellence through monitoring, incident handling, and post-incident improvements.
• Coach Officers and Senior Associates through mentoring and delivery oversight.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and skill development within the pod.
• Represent the pod in cross-functional reviews and architecture governance.
• Promote reuse by building shared libraries, patterns, and accelerators.
• Contribute to platform modernization and developer experience initiatives.

About The Role

We are looking for aFull Stack Engineerwith deep expertise in enterprise software engineering, low-latency systems, and cloud-native architecture. The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership across the stack and the ability to lead architecture and execution for a pod or platform area. As an AVP, you will define technical direction for major features or modules, establish engineering standards across the pod, and own technical delivery commitments. You will work closely with Product Owners, Architects, platform teams, and engineering leaders to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with broader platform strategy. This role is suited for a senior technologist who balances hands-on depth with delivery leadership, coaching, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and technical design for aplatform area or major feature set, ensuring alignment with enterprise engineering standards and target-state architecture.
• Own technical delivery commitments for the pod, balancingscope, quality, timelines, operational readiness, and long-term maintainability.
• Define and enforce engineering standards across the pod fordesign reviews, coding practices, testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and documentation.
• Design and oversee implementation ofbackend services, frontend applications, APIs, data flows, and integration patternsacross the stack.
• Guide engineering decisions onmicroservices, low-latency design, resilience, scalability, API contracts, and cloud-native deployment models.
• Partner with Product Owners and Architects to translate roadmap priorities into executable technical plans and delivery milestones.
• Review solution designs and code across the pod to ensure consistency, performance, and compliance with engineering guardrails.
• Drive production excellence through strong practices inmonitoring, alerting, release management, incident handling, and post-incident improvement.
• Coach and develop Officers and Senior Associates through technical mentoring, design guidance, and delivery oversight.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and skill development within the pod.
• Represent the pod incross-functional technical reviews, design forums, and architecture governance discussions.
• Promote reuse and standardization by identifying opportunities to buildshared libraries, patterns, templates, and engineering accelerators.
• Contribute to platform modernization, developer experience improvements, and engineering efficiency initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree inComputer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8–14 years of experiencein full-stack or enterprise software engineering, with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Deep expertise inPython and/or Java, and modern frontend frameworks such asReact and/or Angular.
• Strong experience designing and operatingenterprise-scale, cloud-native applicationsonAWS and/or Azure.
• Proven experience withmicroservices architecture, API design, distributed systems, and high-availability/low-latency platforms.
• Strong track record of owning production systems at scale, including responsibility forreliability, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Experience leading a pod, team, or major technical workstream, includingtechnical direction, mentoring, and delivery management.
• Strong understanding ofCI/CD, automated testing, containers, Kubernetes, observability, and secure software delivery practices.
• Experience withdatabase design, performance optimization, integration patterns, and enterprise system interoperability.
• Ability to influence technical decisions across product, engineering, and architecture stakeholders.
• Familiarity withevent-driven architectures, Kafka, and asynchronous processing at scale.
• Experience integratingGenAI/LLM-powered capabilitiesinto enterprise applications is a plus.
• Cloud certifications inAWS and/or Azureare a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical designs and trade-offs clearly.
