Job summary

EXL is seeking a Full-Stack Engineer (React & Node.js) in a hybrid Chennai/Bangalore setting. You will lead architecture and development of scalable web applications, owning frontend and backend design, APIs, and data modeling. You will drive best practices, code quality, and collaboration with product and design teams.

You will mentor mid-level engineers, push for robust CI/CD, and help raise engineering standards across the team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong full-stack ownership.
• Expert-level experience with React (hooks).
• Strong backend experience with Node.js (Express/NestJS or similar).
• Proficiency in TypeScript across frontend and backend.

Overview

We are seeking a Full-Stack Engineer with deep expertise in React and Node.js to lead the design and development of complex, scalable web applications. This role goes beyond feature delivery—you'll help shape architecture, influence technical direction, and raise the engineering bar across the team.

You'll work end-to-end across frontend, backend, and infrastructure concerns, partnering closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to build resilient, high-quality systems.

What You’ll Do

• Own the design and implementation of major product features and systems across the full stack
• Architect scalable, maintainable frontend applications using React (hooks)
• Design and build robust backend services and APIs using Node.js (Express, Nest.Js, or similar)
• Make architectural decisions that balance speed, scalability, security, and maintainability
• Lead by example through high-quality code, thoughtful reviews, and strong engineering practices
• Collaborate with product and design to shape requirements, scope solutions, and manage tradeoffs

• Cloud experience (AWS preferred), including deployments, monitoring, and cost awareness
• Experience with Docker and containerized workloads
• Familiarity with microservices, event-driven systems, or message queues
• Experience in security-conscious or regulated environments (e.g., fintech, payments, enterprise platforms)
