Qualifications

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full-Stack AI Engineer based in India.

As a Full-Stack AI Engineer, you will own the intelligence behind an AI-powered teaching companion designed to support educators and improve learning outcomes. You will work at the intersection of AI, product engineering, and user experience, building the retrieval, generation, orchestration, and logic that make the assistant useful and dependable. The role combines deep hands‑on AI expertise with the ability to move comfortably across backend and frontend systems. You will shape how the product understands, responds to, and guides educators while continuously improving its quality, speed, and reliability. Working closely with engineering, infrastructure, and product teams, you will have meaningful ownership over architecture and product direction. This is an opportunity to work on a high‑impact AI product from launch through scale in a collaborative, globally distributed environment.

Accountabilities:

• Own the core AI capabilities powering the teaching companion, including retrieval, generation, orchestration, models, logic, and response quality.
• Design and optimize retrieval experiences that help educators quickly discover relevant videos, printables, activities, guides, and other learning resources.
• Build and maintain content and data pipelines that ingest, structure, enrich, and organize multilingual educational content for accurate and efficient retrieval.
• Develop and refine retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) systems, including semantic search, embeddings, vector databases, re‑ranking, and related retrieval components.
• Work across the full technology stack to integrate AI capabilities seamlessly with backend services and frontend product experiences.
• Shape the assistant’s behavior, responses, personality, guidance, and overall user experience based on a strong understanding of educators and their workflows.
• Lead AI engineering efforts through product launch and contribute to the ongoing evolution and scaling of the platform.
• Continuously improve the quality, latency, reliability, and usefulness of AI‑generated responses and recommendations.
• Use modern AI‑assisted development tools throughout the engineering workflow to prototype, build, test, and iterate efficiently.
• Partner with infrastructure engineering to ensure AI workloads operate reliably, efficiently, and cost‑effectively in the cloud.
• Establish robust evaluation, testing, monitoring, and quality processes for AI systems and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams, communicating ideas, progress, trade‑offs, and technical decisions openly.
• Contribute to the product roadmap, including initiatives around personalization, multilingual experiences, and classroom insights.
• Design and operate AI capabilities with privacy, security, and child‑safety considerations in mind, including alignment with FERPA and COPPA requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong full‑stack capabilities and the ability to work comfortably across backend and frontend technologies.
• Proven hands‑on experience building and shipping at least one production LLM or AI‑powered application; demonstrated practical experience is valued more highly than simply years of AI experience.
• Strong experience developing RAG systems, including embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, re‑ranking, and retrieval optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to build AI‑native workflows using modern AI‑assisted development tools such as Cursor or comparable technologies.
• Strong Python skills and solid backend engineering fundamentals, including APIs, databases, data pipelines, and production application development.
• Sufficient frontend expertise to contribute effectively across the full stack and integrate AI capabilities into user‑facing product experiences.
• Practical experience with LLM orchestration and prompt engineering using LangChain or comparable frameworks, including agent and tool design, system prompts, persona design, and guardrails.
• Strong AWS experience across compute, storage, databases, containers, and monitoring; familiarity with managed model services such as Amazon Bedrock or self‑hosted model inference is advantageous.
• Strong product sensibility and genuine curiosity about end users, with the ability to translate user needs and workflows into effective technical and product decisions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust across engineering, product, infrastructure, and other cross‑functional teams.
• Comfortable taking ownership of complex work, making decisions independently, and driving initiatives forward with minimal supervision.
• Strong written English and the ability to collaborate remotely with meaningful daily overlap across UK and US time zones.
• Experience in edtech or early‑childhood education is a bonus.
• Additional experience with multilingual retrieval, video/audio machine learning, or FERPA/COPPA and similar privacy and safety frameworks is advantageous.
