Industry: Healthcare — Primary & Specialty Ophthalmic Care. Sector: Outpatient clinical services and eye-care diagnostics serving patients across Malappuram and surrounding districts in Kerala. We operate an on-site OPD-focused clinical practice delivering high-quality, evidence-based ophthalmology care.

Position: Consultant Ophthalmologist (OPD) — Malappuram, Kerala (On-site)

Role & Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality outpatient ophthalmic consultations—history taking, comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis, and evidence-based management plans for adult and pediatric patients.
  • Perform routine and advanced procedures in the OPD setting, including phacoemulsification and small‑incision cataract surgery, YAG laser capsulotomy, and intravitreal injections as required.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography) and integrate findings into clinical decision‑making and referral when necessary.
  • Coordinate perioperative care and follow‑up for surgical patients, ensuring documentation, counselling, and post‑op outcomes monitoring.
  • Collaborate with optometrists, nursing staff, and administrative teams to optimise patient flow, clinic efficiency, and care quality.
  • Maintain clinical records, participate in quality audits, and support community screening or outreach programmes as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Must‑Have
  • MRCS/Equivalent ophthalmology surgical competency or relevant postgraduate specialist training (MS/DNB - to be listed in application documentation)
  • Hands‑on experience in phacoemulsification and cataract surgery in an OPD/hospital setting
  • Proficiency in slit‑lamp and fundus biomicroscopy examinations
  • Experience interpreting OCT and visual field reports
  • Competence in performing YAG laser procedures and intravitreal injections
  • Valid medical registration and clearance to practice in India (to be presented during hiring)
Preferred
  • Experience in managing retina‑related OPD cases and basic posterior‑segment interventions
  • Prior OPD consultant experience in a high‑volume eye clinic
  • Training or certification in advanced cataract techniques or laser procedures
