Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Bengaluru, India, invites an experienced Finance Manager to lead the monthly close, budgeting, and forecasting for the center’s profitable growth. You will partner with Engineering, IT, HR and Sourcing leaders to review costs and drive financial planning.

This role requires CA with 5+ years in finance, strong ERP experience, and the ability to deliver clear analyses to global executives while managing tight deadlines and ensuring balance sheet strength.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant with 5+ years post-qualification experience in finance, accounting.
  • Strong information systems and ERP system experience.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to summarize and communicate with cross-functional teams and executives.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Formulating budgets, support annual operating plans (AOP) and rolling forecasts for engineering and IT centers.
  • Compare actual expenses against budgets to identify cost drivers and deviations.
  • Monitor cost center reports to ensure projects stay within budget and conduct cost-benefit analyses.
  • Partner with engineering center leadership to provide forward-looking analytics for investments and capacity planning.
  • Handle month-end activities including GL scrutiny, provisioning, and accrual reviews.
  • Support closure of statutory books and audits with regional controllership and tax teams.

Role Summary/Purpose

The WITEC Finance Manager role is for our Global Center of Excellence for Engineering & IT based in India. Responsibilities include managing the monthly financial close process, budgeting, and forecasting for the center’s profitable growth and balance sheet strength. The Finance Manager will work with cross functional leadership in Engineering, IT, HR, and Sourcing to review costs pertaining to all operations including the Tech labs. This position is a member of a cross-functional team and must be able to partner with leaders from other areas of the business including but not limited to Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Project Management and Human Resources, to achieve the business plan and would lead the finance planning and analysis for Engineering and IT across Wabtec India sites and own the consolidation and financial partnership for all related operations.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Formulating budgets, support annual operating plans (AOP) and rolling forecasts for engineering departments, including OPEX (operating expenses) and CapEx.
  • Compare actual expenses against budgets (variance analysis) to identify cost drivers and performance deviations for engineering leadership.
  • Monitor cost center reports to ensure engineering projects remain within budget and performing cost-benefit analyses.
  • Acting as the finance partner for engineering center leadership, providing forward-looking analytics to assist in investment decisions, capacity planning and strategies & realize organizational goals.
  • Work on Month-end activities, including General Ledger (GL) scrutiny, provisioning, and reviewing accruals.
  • Support closure of statutory books of accounts and other audits, working with Regional Controllership team, as required.
  • Support closure of tax assessment and audits, working with regional tax team, as required.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Chartered Accountant with 5+ years of post-qualification experience in finance, accounting, preferably in a manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Strong information systems/ERP system experience
  • Ability to work and prioritize under tight deadlines
  • Ability to summarize and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and with global and regional executives
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
