Job summary

Effi Flo is a tech enablement firm for staffing and recruitment agencies. You will own the technical side of the platform, from architecture to production, leading AI-driven research, matching and workflow features.

You start as the first senior engineer on the platform, with potential to grow into a technical lead and build a small team as customers scale. Global US/Europe clients and async collaboration across time zones are involved.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of production software experience, backend-first with frontend work shipped.
• Strong Python, TypeScript, SQL and Postgres, with durable schemas.
• Frontend: React or Next.js apps used daily.
• AI in production: agents, retrieval (RAG), prompt design, evals, guardrails, cost and latency control.
• Data pipelines at scale with multiple sources and messy inputs.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and system design.
• Comfort in client discovery calls, explaining trade-offs to non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the platform's technical side from architecture to production.

Effi Flo is a tech enablement firm for staffing and recruitment agencies. We use AI and automation to run their workflows end to end, and we help some clients hire directly. Our clients are in North America and Europe. We are bootstrapped and profitable.

We have spent the last few years building custom systems for our clients. Now we are turning that work into one platform, and clients already pay for it.

Our goal is for every staffing and recruitment agency to run as an AI-native business. Shopify let any shop sell online. We want to give agencies the same jump.

What you will build

You will own the technical side of the platform, from architecture to production. The work covers:

• AI agents that take on research, matching and writing recruiters now do by hand


• Talent matching that ranks the right people for a role in minutes


• One clean view of every candidate and client, across the tools agencies use


• Timing and outreach: who to contact, when, and with what context


• Per-client setup, so each agency's own hiring method runs inside the product


• The web app recruiters and clients work in every day, from database to screen


• Evaluation and guardrails, so clients can trust what the AI produces


• Architecture, tool choices and standards for testing, monitoring and cost

What you will do with clients

You will spend real time with our clients, most of them in the US.

• Run technical discovery with agency founders and recruiters


• Design solutions and run proofs of concept on their own data


• Turn one-off client requests into platform features that serve every client

Expect roughly 60% building, 25% with clients, and 15% leading and planning. The mix will shift as the team grows.

How this role grows

You start as the first senior engineer on the platform and its technical lead. As the platform and client base grow, you hire and lead a small engineering team. You shape the roadmap with the Founder, so he can spend more time on sales and clients.

What we look for

• 8-12 years of production software, backend first, with frontend work shipped


• Strong Python, TypeScript, SQL and Postgres, with schemas that hold up for years


• Frontend: React or Next.js apps you built that people use every day


• AI in production: agents, retrieval (RAG), prompt design, evals and guardrails, plus cost and latency control, built on Claude, OpenAI or Gemini APIs


• You follow AI closely and know when a new model changes what we should build


• Data pipelines at scale: millions of records, many sources, messy inputs


• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and system design


• Comfort in front of clients: you can run a discovery call, explain trade-offs to a non-engineer and push back when a request is wrong


• Time on a founding team or early-stage startup, owning problems end to end


• High agency and self-driven: you do what needs doing without being asked


• High integrity: you flag what you don't know and own your mistakes

Nice to have

• Experience in sales tech, GTM tech or recruitment tech


• Supabase, pgvector, or serverless on AWS


• You use Claude Code or a similar tool daily to plan, write and review code


• You have mentored or led engineers


• You have built and shipped a product of your own
