About the role

MongoDB is hiring a Forward Deployed Architect in Gurugram (hybrid) to lead technical design for ISV partners adding MongoDB to their products.

MongoDB's Industry Solutions Team helps customers and partners modernise their applications and data platforms. In its ISV practice, the Forward Deployed Architect leads technical design on engagements with independent software vendors, working with their engineering leaders and with MongoDB's Forward Deployed Engineers.

The posting stresses that this is an application architecture role, not database administration. You will design how MongoDB fits alongside databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or SQL Server in partner products, plan migrations and coexistence, review code and schemas, and remain hands-on with prototyping. Candidates based in Gurugram are sought for a hybrid model, with regular travel to partner sites.

Ability to influence engineers without formal authority and explain trade-offs clearly
Willingness to travel regularly to partner locations

Why this role in 2026

This role puts you in charge of architecture decisions on multi-database product engagements while staying close to code. It suits senior engineers who want to move into an architecture and technical leadership role in a forward deployed setting.

Application tips

Highlight architectures where you added a second database to an existing product and how you kept feature parity
Describe migrations you designed, including data flow, consistency and cutover strategy
Show MongoDB depth on sharding, replication and sizing
Give examples of influencing engineering teams without direct authority
Mention any Kafka or Debezium experience and work in regulated industries, which the posting lists as pluses

Expect system design questions on supporting MongoDB alongside a relational database in a multi-tenant SaaS product, migration planning and design-review scenarios. Prepare to explain trade-offs between speed, quality and maintainability. General FDE preparation: the FDE engineer skills guide.

The posting highlights growth in multi-database architecture, migrations, search and vector workloads, and technical leadership. Those skills are relevant to principal architect and engineering leadership roles in data-intensive product companies.

Company & benefits
