Morgan Stanley’s Commercial Real Estate Lending Group (CRE Lending) in Mumbai is seeking an Analyst/Associate to join the Asset Management team. The role focuses on managing loan data, covenant tracking and risk reporting for a large CRE portfolio.

The candidate will work with regional asset managers and local loan coverage teams, coordinating with Global Asset Management and Credit Risk colleagues. Strong Excel, SQL, and data visualization skills are essential.

Qualifications

• MBA or qualified CA/ACCA/CPA required.
• 3+ years in structured products or CRE risk/asset management.
• Proficiency in Excel VBA; SQL or similar data tools.

Responsibilities

• Establish loan reporting dates and ensure timely data entry in proprietary platforms.
• Asset management duties: covenant tracking, financial spreading, draw review and data reconciliation.
• Gather market data and create analyses to support risk decisions.
• Produce quarterly underwriting assumptions and risk projections with loan coverage teams.
• Provide periodic risk reporting to local teams to support governance.
• Coordinate regulatory submissions with global reporting teams.
• Update on loan performance and key risks to CRE Lending Management and Global Asset Management.

Position Description

Morgan Stanley’s Commercial Real Estate Lending Group (CRE Lending) within the Securitized Products Group (SPG) originates, distributes and risk manages a portfolio traditional Commercial Real Estate loans across three global regions. We are currently seeking an interested Analyst/Associate level candidate to join the Asset Management team. The successful candidate will be expected to work with the regional asset managers of large portfolio of commercial real estate. The role is based in Mumbai.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establish loan reporting dates and requirements at closing and manage the completeness and timely data entry into proprietary workflow platforms
• Primary asset management responsibilities viz. covenant tracking, financial spreading, draw and upfunding review and analysis, drift analysis, loan data update/reconciliation within Morgan Stanley owned systems/databases and reporting functions.
• Gather market data, and create meaningful analysis to aid with risk decisions
• Assist in producing the quarterly underwriting assumptions and risk projections for the loans within the CRE Lending portfolio and review with the local loan coverage teams
• Provide periodic risk reporting to local teams to support quarterly governance
• Prepare and coordinate periodic regulatory submissions with global portfolio reporting team
• Provide periodic updates on loan performance and key risks to CRE Lending Management, and coordinate information shared with Global Asset Management Team and Credit Risk colleagues
• Coordinate with overlapping teams and provide feedback on further process and technology enhancements support

Qualifications

Qualifications - External

Masters in business administration from premier institutions or Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI) / ACCA / CPA.

Experience And Skills Required

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in structured products or real estate origination / risk / credit / asset management
• Proficiency in Advance Microsoft Excel (including VBA), exposure to SQL or other database tools for data extraction and analysis. Knowledge of data visualization tools such as PowerBi and Tableau is an added advantage
• Experience with Argus Enterprise, Rockport and CoStar is preferred but not mandatory
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with local teams globally and cross-functional teams effectively
• Ability to execute on established processes and procedures
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks under tight deadlines
