Job summary

AMD is seeking a senior Firmware Developer to join the NTSG product team. You will develop RTOS/bare-metal code, drive kernel modules and device drivers for AINIC and DPU platforms, and optimize performance and power for embedded systems.

Ideal candidates have RTOS/bare-metal experience, strong C/C++ skills, and familiarity with ARM/x86 architectures, I2C/SPI/UART/PCIe interfaces, and Linux tooling.

Responsibilities

• Work on I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and other peripheral interfaces to ensure efficient hardware communication.
• Optimize system performance, memory management, and power efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them
• Help contribute to the design and implementation of future architecture for a highly scalable, durable, and innovative system

Firmware Developer - RTOS/Bare-metal

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a senior software engineer to join our growing NTSG product team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will work on our AINIC product low-level system software, enabling hardware functionality, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless integration between hardware and software layers. The candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, strong knowledge in computer technologies, leadership skills in technical areas, and SW engineering expertise as well as a strong ability to compete effectively in a fast-paced, relevant environment while working with different teams of engineers and collaborators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, debug, and optimize RTOS/Linux kernel modules and device drivers for AINIC and DPU platforms.
• Work on I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and other peripheral interfaces to ensure efficient hardware communication.
• Optimize system performance, memory management, and power efficiency.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or bare-metal firmware.
• Experience with ARM/x86 architectures and low-power embedded systems.
  
• Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C, C++

• Excellent design and code development skills, familiarity with Linux and modern software tools and techniques for development
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
