Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise India Private Limited is seeking a Firmware Developer (BIOS/UEFI) to advance firmware for server platforms. The role supports collaboration across global teams and requires strong C/C++, Python, and shell scripting skills.

You will work in a hybrid model with about two days per week in the office and guide complex technical investigations from design through deployment. Ideal candidates have 6+ years of experience and deep knowledge of BIOS/UEFI, EDK II, and platform

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent.
  • Strong BIOS/UEFI knowledge with EDK II, ACPI, SMBIOS and initialization flows.
  • Experience with Intel server architectures and security features.

Responsibilities

  • Designs enhancements and changes for firmware subsystems and OS-level components.
  • Analyzes designs and determines coding, integration activities for the product.
  • Develops test plans, debugs issues, documents solutions for firmware integration.
  • Leads projects and mentors junior engineers across teams.
  • Collaborates with management and partners on design status and progress.

What you'll do:
  • Designs enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
  • Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
  • Writes and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs, and creates solutions for issues with code and integration into application architecture.
  • Leads a project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.
  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Represents the software systems engineering team for all phases of larger and more-complex development projects.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.

What you need to bring:
  • Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent. Typically 6+ years experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong expertise in x86 server firmware development with deep knowledge of BIOS/UEFI, EDK II, ACPI, SMBIOS, and platform initialization flows.
  • Extensive understanding of Intel server CPU architectures, chipset technologies, memory subsystems, PCIe, RAS, security, and power management features.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale enterprise and scale-up server platforms, including multi-socket systems and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Proficient in C, C++, Python, and Shell scripting for firmware development, automation, debugging, and validation activities.
  • Hands-on experience with firmware debugging tools, JTAG, hardware analyzers, crash dump analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Strong knowledge of platform security technologies such as Secure Boot, TPM, certificate management, measured boot, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience integrating and validating silicon features across BIOS, BMC, operating systems, and hardware components.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and modern AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
  • Ability to drive complex technical investigations, collaborate across global engineering teams, and provide technical leadership for product releases.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills, with the ability to own critical firmware deliverables from design through production deployment.
