Job Designation: Fireman

Reporting to: Deputy Registrar
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and ensure immediate response to all emergency calls, including participation in scheduled mock drills.
- Conduct fire safety inspection rounds of the campus as per the prescribed schedule and checklist.
- Implement Incident Command and Control techniques during emergencies for effective response, control, and mitigation.
- Respond promptly to fire and other emergencies and actively participate in firefighting and rescue operations.
- Carry out Inspection, Testing and Maintenance (ITM) of firefighting equipment and systems as per the prescribed schedule.
- Perform standby duties during critical jobs and activities requiring fire safety coverage.
- Regularly check, maintain and ensure the readiness of firefighting equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable fire safety standards, procedures, guidelines and checklists.
- Maintain the Fire Station Log Book, Occurrence Book and other shift-related records and documentation.
- Maintain discipline, proper conduct and readiness within the Fire Station.
- Report any defects, safety hazards or abnormalities observed during inspections to the concerned authority.
- Coordinate with relevant departments and emergency response teams during fire and other emergency situations.
Educational Qualifications
- HSC or equivalent qualification.
Professional Certifications
- 1-year certified Fireman course.
- Any additional certification in Fire Safety, Firefighting or Emergency Response will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in firefighting, fire safety, emergency response or a similar role.
- Relevant experience in fire safety, firefighting or emergency response.
- Knowledge of firefighting procedures, fire prevention and emergency response.
Skills and Competencies
- Good knowledge of firefighting and rescue operations.
- Knowledge of fire safety procedures, standards and emergency response protocols.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively during emergency situations.
- Basic understanding of firefighting equipment, systems and their maintenance.
- Ability to conduct fire safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Knowledge of Incident Command and Control techniques.
- Good observation and situational awareness.
- Ability to work effectively in shifts and during emergency situations.
- Good discipline, alertness and physical fitness.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and shift-related documentation.
