Chevron ENGINE Center in Bengaluru is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to provide expert consultation for operating assets and capital projects. The role covers fire protection design, hazard analyses, facility audits, and training, with travel as needed.

• Set up and review modeling software used by the fire protection team (Pipenet, Inside Numerics, Phast).
• Maintain company specifications and participate in industrial code development.
• Serve as SME in Fire Hazard Analyses and provide site fire protection reviews.
• Domestic or international travel is anticipated.

About the position

The Fire Protection Engineer is part of the Project Designs Engineering team within the Chevron ENGINE Center. This role provides fire protection expert consultation and services to the operating asset and capital projects across Chevron with the objective of decreasing the risk of process related incidents across the Enterprise. Key services include capital project support, facility audits, incident investigation, hazards analyses and training.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Performing active and passive fire protection system design engineering, hydraulic calculations and transient analysis, fire and gas 3D mapping, fire and gas instrumentation, fire system testing
• Setup and review modeling software used by the fire protection team such as Pipenet, Inside Numerics, and Phast
• Maintaining related company specifications and participating in industrial code development.
• Participate as SME in Fire Hazard Analyses.
• Base-business support includes providing site fire protection reviews.
• It is anticipated that domestic or international travel will be required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline (mechanical, chemical, etc.) (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university.
• Knowledge and experience in Process Engineering in complex process facilities

Prefered Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in an engineering execution or consultant role within offshore, complex or LNG facilities.
• Familiarity with modeling software such as Pipenet, Inside Numerics, and Phast.Awareness of Process Safety Management concepts, and principles such as Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
• Knowledge of fire protection engineering fundamentals of fluid mechanics/hydraulics, fire dynamics, thermal radiation etc.
• Experience in testing and commissioning fire suppression systems (such as FM200/CO2 or gaseous suppression systems, deluge systems, foam systems, fire pump testing, flow testing etc) is a plus
• Experience in design, fabrication, and construction of fire suppression systems (such as FM200/CO2 or gaseous suppression systems, deluge skids, foam skids, testing fire pumps etc) is a plus
