Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for India and US books.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules prepared by the team.
- Ensure accurate GL maintenance, accruals, prepaid schedules, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and review variance analyses (actual vs budget) and provide insights to management.
- Responsible for TB finalization, supporting consolidation, and intercompany eliminations.
2. Revenue Accounting (ASC 606 / Ind AS 115)
- Oversee revenue recognition for SaaS subscriptions, implementation projects, professional services, and license fees.
- Work closely with SalesOps, CRM teams, and Billing to validate contract terms, deliverables, and revenue triggers.
- Maintain deferred revenue schedules for both entities.
- Support audit requirements related to revenue and contract documentation.
3. Accounts Payable, Vendor Management & Cost Control
- Supervise vendor invoice processing, TDS/GST applicability checks, and monthly AP ageing.
- Review payment batches, ensuring timely payments aligned with cash flow planning.
- Maintain prepaid and accrual schedules with automated month-end reversals.
- Drive cost optimization by monitoring spend patterns, subscriptions, and vendor renewals.
4. Accounts Receivable & Billing
- Oversee invoicing for US and India entities including contracts, renewals, and credits.
- Manage AR ageing, customer follow-ups, and collections tracking.
- Ensure all invoices reflect correct GST, WHT, and cross-border compliance.
5. Intercompany Transactions & Consolidation
- Track all intercompany charges — payroll allocations, shared services, management fees, software costs.
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany balances monthly with the US Controller.
- Ensure proper documentation for transfer pricing and support auditors with schedules.
6. Compliance, Tax & Audit Support
- Oversee all India statutory compliances: GST, TDS, PF, PT, Income Tax, ROC, SOFTEX.
- Support global tax compliance: sales tax filings, withholding tax, federal/state compliance support.
- Coordinate with external auditors (statutory, internal, US GAAP, SOX if applicable).
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries, and maintain documentation.
7. FP&A, Budgeting & MIS
- Support the Director Finance in annual budgeting for India operations (and for global teams as needed).
- Monitor monthly performance vs plan and prepare variance reports with commentary.Partner with HR & IT for headcount planning, software budgeting, and recurring cost forecasting.
- Prepare MIS dashboards for senior leadership.
8. Treasury, Cash Flow & Banking
- Manage daily cash flow tracking, forecast updates, and bank reporting.
- Oversee petty cash, bank reconciliations, and fund transfers.
- Coordinate with US Finance for intercompany settlements and FX considerations.
9. Systems, Process Improvements & Automations
- Drive improvements in QuickBooks, Tally, payroll systems, and reporting workflows.
- Support new system implementations (ERP, CRM integration, billing tools).
- Implement and document SOPs, internal controls, and accountability matrices.
10. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor the Finance team; allocate responsibilities and review outputs.
- Conduct training on accounting standards, GST/TDS impacts, and internal controls.
- Work cross-functionally with HR, Sales, Operations, Legal, RevOps, and US Finance teams.
- Ensure smooth communication across time zones.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606, Ind AS/IFRS, and SaaS revenue models.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate numbers into insights.
- Strong command of Excel, QBO, Tally, and reporting tools.
- Ability to improve processes and bring structure to a scaling environment.
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
- People management experience preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 6–10 years of experience in accounting/finance roles, including
minimum 3 years in a SaaS/technology company
minimum 2–3 years experience in leading a team
- Experience managing financial reporting, close cycles, and compliance.
- Experience working with global teams preferred.
Educational Qualifications
- B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA Inter / CPA/ CWA desirable.
Knowledge of Indian taxation (GST, TDS, ROC) and basic US indirect tax concepts.
