Job summary

Veolia is seeking a mechanically skilled technician to service Delhi's District Steam System. The role covers installation, repair, and troubleshooting of steam, hot water, and HVAC components.

You will read mechanical prints, perform calibrations, and prepare reports. The candidate should have a high school diploma, 5+ years in trades, and corresponding licenses; asbestos training is preferred and a valid Class 3 license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years in trades in a field service role.
• Trained as an Associated Asbestos Worker or willing to be trained.
• Licenses: Journeyman Pipefitter, Refrigeration Technician (HVAC), and Electrician or Plumber.
• LA driver’s license, Class 3, with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform soldering, burning, and service/repairs such as valve rebuilding and replacement.
• Test and service steam, hot water, chilled water components (pumps, PRVs, traps, heat exchangers).
• Read and interpret mechanical prints and understand steam/hot water/HVAC distribution and controls.
• Prepare technical reports describing conditions and work performed; document for billing and orders.
• Prepare work scope and price estimates for project work; maintain good customer relations.

Job Description

Position Purpose

Performs a variety of customer service-related work in mechanical, piping, controls and HVAC Chilled Water and Hydronic Heating Systems. The service work includes but is not limited to installation, repair and troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment presently on Delhi's District Steam System.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• All activities covered under Mechanic I.
• Ability to perform soldering, burning and to conduct service and repairs such as valve rebuilding, repacking and replacement, reading and interpreting mechanical prints, understanding principles and components of steam, hot water, chilled water and HVAC distribution and basic controls.
• To test, repair, replace and service major steam, condensate, hot water and chilled water components such as pumps, PRV's, steam traps, heat exchangers and hot water systems.
• Proficient understanding and use of all conventional tools and meters to maintain, repair, calibrate and test components found in the systems described above.
• Prepare technical reports to accurately describe conditions and work performed.
• Prepares appropriate service documentation for billing and completion of service orders.
• Prepare work scope and price estimates for project work. 8. Maintain and develop good customer relations while promoting the image of the company.

Work Environment

• Required to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and stairs.
• Required to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 5 plus years of experience working in the trades in a field service role.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Required to be trained or already trained as an Associated Asbestos Worker to perform related duties.
• Required adhering to customer and facility rules and regulations.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training

• Requires no less than the following licenses: (1) Journeyman Pipefitter (2) Refrigeration Technician (HVAC) (3) either Electrician or Plumber.
• Must also have a LA driver's license, minimum Class 3 and safe driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) where proper safety procedures warrant their use.
• Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
