Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Excel-based financial/cost modelling and translating outputs into executive PowerPoint materials.
  • Willingness to undertake international travel as per business requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standalone cost models, stranded cost models, and one-time cost projections post carve-out or integration.
  • Create functional cost and headcount benchmarks using third-party datasets.
  • Identify entanglements and cost implications in standalone projects and stranded assets.
  • Classify costs with trial balance into direct/allocated and headcount vs non-headcount.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage standalone projects and expenditures.
  • Support business development with expertise on standalone costs and related considerations.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools to support analyses and suggest workflow improvements.

GDS EY-P – S&E – Standalone, One-time & Stranded Costing – Assistant Manager – India

Within EY-P, S&E team services clients with a full range of hands‑on, operationally focused support and advice across the transaction life cycle, across buyers and sellers. We cover a wide range of operational aspects, including divestiture advisory services, carve‑out readiness and support, operational due diligence, synergy assessment and delivery, day‑one readiness assessment, 100‑day planning, integration process support, carve‑out/stand‑alone costs assessment and risks, and cost reduction.

The opportunity

We are looking for Assistant Managers with 4–6 years of experience in M&A life cycle, carve‑out / integration of a business post‑announcement of transaction, cross‑border M&A who specialize in Standalone Cost Models, Stranded Cost Models, and One‑time costs. This role sits within EY Parthenon Deal Management’s Standalone Costing (SAC) Centre of Excellence (CoE), which is the global hub for delivering all standalone, stranded, and one time cost analyses across transactions.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate excellent skills in developing and implementing standalone cost models, stranded cost models, and one‑time cost projections following carve‑out, spins and Integrations
  • Develop and apply functional cost and headcount benchmarks using third‑party datasets to validate future‑state standalone assumptions
  • Uncover key insights into potential business entanglements and cost implications associated with standalone projects, stranded assets, and one‑time expenditures
  • Classify costs into various functional heads using trial balance and further classifying into direct vs allocated costs and headcount vs non headcount costs
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure effective management and optimization of standalone projects, stranded assets, and one‑time expenditures
  • Build strong relationships with EY offices across the globe, demonstrating knowledge of regional practices and contributing to client satisfaction
  • Support business development activities by providing expertise on standalone cost models, stranded cost models, and one‑time cost considerations
  • Utilize existing AI‑enabled tools and tech enablement assets to support standalone cost analyses, and proactively provide feedback on opportunities to improve current AI services, prompts, and automation workflows across the SAC delivery process
Skills And Attributes For Success
  • Good understanding of M&A life cycle, carve‑out / integration of a business post‑announcement of transaction, cross‑border M&A
  • Possess financial analysis experience from a number of pre‑and post‑deal transactions, with the ability to link detailed operational analysis to P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet
  • Understanding of corporate allocations and methodology to replace allocated costs
  • Skill to synthesize approaches to complex carve‑out and integration conflicts
  • Talent to adapt to new challenges and ideas
  • Excellent problem solving, project management, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong executive presence with good networking and negotiation skills
To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Post Graduate degree in business, accounting, finance, engineering, computer science, or related field from a premier institute with 4-6 years of applicable industry and/or consulting experience
  • Understanding of M&A life cycle, carve‑out / integration of a business post‑announcement of transaction, cross‑border M&A with specialized knowledge of standalone costs, stranded costs, and one‑time costs
    • Proficiency in Excel‑based financial and cost modelling, with the ability to translate outputs into executive‑ready PowerPoint materials
    • Willingness to undertake international travel as per business requirement
