Position Summary

The Optometrist will provide the best customer experience in our stores by ensuring high standards of eye‑testing quality. The role will operate under the Store Manager and focus on delivering accurate diagnostics and personalized eyewear solutions to customers.

Reporting Relationship

Reports directly to the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commit to customer satisfaction by putting customers’ needs first.
  • Conduct competent and knowledgeable eye tests and greet customers immediately upon entry, demonstrating urgency and friendly, high‑service‑oriented interactions.
  • Build strong relationships with customers by explaining the eye exam process.
  • Investigate underlying reasons for recurring customer problems and proactively find solutions.
  • Anticipate problems before they occur and develop action plans at the store level.
  • Ensure eye‑test quality assurance: observe, use instruments to determine visual acuity, perception, focus, and coordination.
  • Convert prospective customers into actual customers and ensure all receive accurate diagnoses and appropriate recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with retail associates to provide a seamless customer experience.
  • Understand the POS system to process transactions accurately and work closely with other departments until the product reaches the customer.
  • Maintain a neat, organized store layout to avoid shrinkage.
  • Ensure the store and inventory are clean, neat, and safe; uphold safety measures and store hygiene.
  • Present a professional image: uniforms should be neat, clean, and pressed; all staff at the store level should be groomed and customer‑ready.
Competencies & Educational Qualifications
  • Diploma, degree, or postgraduate degree holder in Optometry with 0–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and self‑motivation with an ability to think innovatively.
  • People‑management skills – ability to lead, manage, and develop large teams in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Passion for results and a high level of commitment with a bias for execution excellence.
