Job summary

Criterion Tech is seeking an experienced ETL / Data Migration Engineer to design, develop, and execute data migrations from legacy systems to modern platforms. You will handle extraction, transformation, cleansing, loading, validation, and reporting to ensure zero data loss and data integrity.

The role requires 3–6 years of hands-on ETL and data migration experience, strong SQL skills, and proficiency with tools like NiFi, Talend, Pentaho, SSIS, and Azure Data Factory.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced ETL / Data Migration Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and executing data migration processes from legacy systems to modern platforms. The role will involve data extraction, transformation, cleansing, loading, validation, reconciliation, and migration reporting while ensuring data integrity and zero data loss.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop ETL pipelines for migrating structured and unstructured data.
• Analyze source databases, schemas, relationships, and data quality.
• Develop source-to-target data mapping and transformation rules.
• Extract, transform, cleanse, validate, and load data into target systems.
• Migrate databases, documents, SCORM packages, videos, attachments, and metadata.
• Implement full, incremental, and delta migration processes.
• Develop automated data validation and source-to-target reconciliation mechanisms.
• Perform record-count, field-level, relationship, file-size, and checksum/hash-based validation.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data migration errors and exceptions.
• Maintain migration logs, audit trails, error reports, and reconciliation reports.
• Optimize ETL processes for large-volume and TB-scale data migration.
• Conduct migration testing, dry runs, production migration, and post-migration verification.
• Prepare migration documentation, runbooks, mapping documents, and final migration reports.
• Work closely with application, database, QA, and infrastructure teams during migration and cutover.

Required Skills

• 3–6 years of experience in ETL, data migration, or data integration.
• Strong SQL and database knowledge, preferably PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Hands-on experience with one or more ETL tools such as Apache NiFi, Talend, Pentaho, SSIS, or Azure Data Factory.
• Experience in data cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
• Knowledge of full, incremental, and delta migration approaches.
• Experience handling structured data as well as files/documents and object storage.
• Strong understanding of database relationships, constraints, indexes, and data integrity.
• Programming/scripting experience in Python, Java, C#, or similar.
• Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Git and Linux is desirable.

Good to Have

• Experience with CDC, Debezium, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and S3-compatible object storage.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise or LMS/ERP data migration projects.
• Experience preparing migration and reconciliation reports.

Key Competency

The candidate should be capable of end-to-end data migration—from source analysis and ETL development through final reconciliation—while demonstrating that all required data has been migrated accurately and without data loss.
