Job summary

This Bangalore-based role sits within ISG’s Research team and reports to the Head of Strategic Portfolio Construction. The Senior Research Analyst will support the DC business, partnering with portfolio managers and strategists, and translate research into client-facing narratives.

We seek a candidate with strong written and oral communication, capable of presenting research across internal and external forums and advancing glide path and asset allocation modelling frameworks.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5–7 years of professional and/or academic experience; CFA designation a plus.
• Experience with research and modelling for multi-asset class portfolios; DC/Target date asset allocation experience preferred.
• Strong quantitative modelling, analytical and programming skills.

Responsibilities

• Rationalise and enhance glide path construction methodology.
• Build a custom glide path framework responsive to demographic properties of participant pools.
• Develop a robust asset allocation framework for ultra-long investment horizons (TDF space).

Role Overview

This Bangalore‑based position sits within ISG’s Research team and reports to the Head of Strategic Portfolio Construction. The Senior Research Analyst will support the quantitative aspects of our Defined Contribution (DC) business, which represents approximately $300 billion in assets. The role operates at the intersection of the investment organisation: partnering with portfolio managers and DC strategists on one side, and with the broader research organisation on the other. The successful candidate will execute research projects that improve glide path construction, asset allocation frameworks and modelling infrastructure, while translating those results into materials that support client engagement. Strong written and oral communication skills are therefore critical, as is the ability to present both one’s own research and that of colleagues across internal and external forums.

Key Responsibilities

• Research Rationalise and enhance glide path construction methodology.
• A current priority is building a custom glide path framework that is responsive to the demographic properties of individual participant pools.
• Continue efforts to build a robust asset allocation framework designed specifically for the ultra‑long investment horizons characteristic of the target date fund (TDF) space, including strategic scenario analysis and the construction of long‑term uncertainty sets.
• Drive the effort to re‑envision our DC portfolio construction and modelling suite of models (PUMA TDF), including model design, validation, maintenance and infrastructure monitoring.
• Partnership with Portfolio Management Provide practical, hands‑on support to portfolio managers in articulating client pitches, translating quantitative research into clear and defensible investment narratives.
• Partnership with DC Strategy Maintain the suite of analytical tools required to support client pitches. Act as a quantitative resource for occasional data mining and ad hoc analysis on behalf of the strategy organisation.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5–7 years of professional and/or academic experience; CFA designation a plus.
• Experience with research and modelling in the context of multi-asset class portfolios; exposure to defined contribution, target date or long‑horizon asset allocation research strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated capability in quantitative analysis — forecasting models, portfolio construction, scenario and risk analysis, and simulation across a range of advanced quantitative techniques.
• Strong quantitative modelling, analytical and programming skills (e.g., Python and/or R, SQL, Excel, VBA).
• Familiarity with financial software and data platforms (FactSet, Bloomberg, Reuters).
• Comfortable presenting research findings to investment and client‑facing audiences, and able to represent the team’s research both internally and externally.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to execute independently while working effectively within a globally distributed team.
