Job summary

Sigma Earth is seeking a data-focused environmental chemistry specialist to act as the liaison between laboratory teams, field crews, and project management. You will validate multi-media chemical data against USEPA guidelines and regional standards.

Responsibilities include QA/QC, data validation, and preparing data usability packages using the EQuIS system. You will support field sampling, review chain-of-custody, and ensure timely delivery of final validated reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Engineering (required).
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in environmental analytical chemistry or related field.
• Strong preference for experience with EQuIS environmental database software.
• Practical knowledge of laboratory procedures and QA/QC processes in environmental testing.
• Familiarity with USEPA analytical methods and standards.
• Experience with analytical laboratory instruments such as ICP, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, GC-MS preferred.
• Strong understanding of scientific investigation principles, field sampling, data validation, QA/QC, and documentation.

• Interpret and evaluate sampling events, field sampling procedures, and chain-of-custody documentation for data integrity.
• Assess environmental laboratory data for QA/QC compliance per Work Plans and QAPPs.
• Prepare data usability packages including Water Level and Field Form compilations, QA/QC (EDD QC) documentation, tables, and technical reporting using EQuIS.
• Maintain ongoing communication with alliance partners and laboratories for data formatting and delivery standards.
• Support field operations during sampling plan development and fieldwork preparation activities.
• Manage end-to-end data flow from laboratories and alliance partners to final validated reporting outputs.

• Assess environmental laboratory analytical data to ensure compliance with project-specific QA/QC requirements defined in Work Plans and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs).
• Prepare data usability packages including Water Level and Field Form compilations, QA/QC (EDD QC) documentation, tables, and technical reporting using the EQuIS database system.
