Job summary

Adani Group, a leading Indian conglomerate, is seeking an Area In Charge - Mechanical (Conveyor & FCC) for its Ports & SEZ division. The role oversees maintenance and performance optimisation of conveyors and FCC equipment to ensure seamless material handling and high equipment reliability.

The candidate will develop preventive maintenance schedules, manage budgets, troubleshoot gearboxes and motors, and coordinate with vendors for repairs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8–10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably with conveyors or FCCs.
• Experience in port or industrial settings is preferred.

Job Purpose: Area In Charge - Mechanical (Conveyor & FCC) will oversee the maintenance and performance optimisation of mechanical systems, with a primary focus on conveyor systems and FCC (Fixed Cargo Cranes) within the port. This role ensures seamless material handling processes and equipment reliability to support continuous port operations.

Responsibilities

Mechanical (Conveyor & FCC) Maintenance & Servicing:

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for conveyors and FCC equipment to prevent unplanned downtime & manage the servicing of mechanical components, including motors, belts, pulleys, and gears.

Budget Management:

Manage the budget for mechanical maintenance related to conveyors and FCC, ensuring that expenditures remain within allocated limits & identify cost-effective solutions for repair and maintenance activities while maintaining high-quality standards.

Troubleshooting:

Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues related to conveyors, FCCs, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, and other related machinery.

Inspection:

Coordinate and schedule routine inspections and maintenance activities to minimize disruptions to operations.

Safety & Compliance:

Ensure mechanical operations comply with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, industry standards & oversee compliance with port safety standards, including emergency response procedures for mechanical failures.

Equipment Performance & Optimization:

Monitor and analyse performance data to identify opportunities for improving system efficiency, minimizing downtime, and optimising material handling capacity & propose and implement modifications or upgrades to conveyor systems and FCCs for improved functionality and energy efficiency.

Inventory Management:

Plan and procure spares and tools for smooth operation of equipments & get emergency spares in case of unknown breakdowns.

Vendor Management:

Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialised services, repairs, or system upgrades.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, inspections, parts usage & prepare reports on system performance, maintenance costs, and incident reports for management review.

Educational Qualification:
