Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking an Engineering Manager for the FACTS Solution Line, based in Noida, India, with remote working flexibility. The role demands leadership in power system studies, STATCOM/FACTS projects, and cross-functional coordination across global projects.

Qualifications

  • 14–18 years of relevant experience in Power System Studies.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in STATCOM/FACTS projects.
  • Experience in utility-scale grid integration and EHV substations preferred.
  • People leadership skills.
  • BTech/MTech/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering preferably in Power System.
  • Experience from Substation/Grid system design solutions, e.g. FACTS, HVDC.
  • Knowledge in development/application of engineering processes and continuous improvement.
  • Fluent written and oral skills in English.
  • Strong prioritizing and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute detailed power system studies for STATCOM and FACTS projects.
  • Perform and review insulation coordination studies, harmonic analysis and harmonic filter design.
  • Conduct transient overvoltage, switching transient, load flow, short circuit and dynamic stability studies.
  • Develop and validate simulation models for STATCOM and SVC.
  • Prepare technical reports, study documents and customer presentations.
  • Coordinate with control, protection, primary engineering and commissioning teams.
  • Interface with utilities, consultants and customers for technical discussions and approvals.
  • Build, lead and mentor a high-performance engineering team.
  • Allocate resources and monitor schedules for multiple projects.
  • Drive engineering quality, productivity and on-time deliverables.

The role requires technical leadership, project coordination, customer interaction and mentoring to engineering team.

Job Description

GE Vernova delivers reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC), on which we are the global FACTS Solution Line based in Finland, India, Brazil and US. These systems are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. We are looking for Engineering Manager to join the FACTS Solution Line team. The position will be based in Noida, India with remote working flexibility. You will be working on cutting edge technology and varied international high-profile projects. In this position, you will be reporting to FACTS Engineering Leader India and it can be considered a top priority position to lead a critical engineering discipline in FACTS business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engineering & Technical Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute detailed power system studies for STATCOM and FACTS projects.
  • Perform and review:
  • Insulation coordination studies
  • Hamonic analysis and harmonic filter design
  • Temporary and transient overvoltage studies
  • Switching transient studies
  • Load flow studies
  • Short circuit studies
  • Dynamic stability studies
  • LVRT & HVRT studies
  • Develop and validate simulation models for:
  • STATCOM
  • SVC
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, study documents, and customer presentations.
  • Coordinate with control, protection, primary engineering, and commissioning teams.
  • Interface with utilities, consultants, and customers for technical discussions and approval.
Software Expertise Required for STATCOM Projects:
  • MATLAB / Simulink
  • PSCAD
  • PSSE
  • PRSIM
  • Additional exposure to Dig SILENT Power Factory, RTDS, EMTDC, EMTP-RV, or hardware-in-loop testing will be an added advantage.
People Leadership Tasks:

In this position, you will lead the global expert organization for System Design of grid integration of high power (>100MVAr) reactive power compensators, namely STATCOM (static synchronous compensator) and SVC (static var compensator). Your main task is people and engineering leadership, and together with your team you will be accountable for successful engineering delivery according to highly demanding customer specifications. You get to see the full engineering workflow from Tender evaluations and bid preparation, to projects’ detail design, and finally commissioning of the compensator at the actual site.

  • Build, lead & mentor a high-performance engineering team.
  • Develop engineering competency and technical expertise within the organization.
  • Allocate resources and monitor engineering schedules for multiple projects.
  • Drive engineering quality, productivity and on-time deliverables.
  • Establish standard engineering practices, templates, and workflows.
  • Conduct technical reviews and engineering risks assessments.
  • Support employee development, training & succession plan.

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience of handling global utility/customers’ requirements.
  • Exposure to Indian Grid Code, CEA regulations, and international utility standards preferred.
  • Desire to work in international environment.
