Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with leadership experience.
• Strong experience delivering distributed, large-scale backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and REST-based services.
• Experience in microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of data storage systems (RDBMS / NoSQL) and data access patterns.
• Experience with messaging platforms (e.g., Kafka or similar).
• Exposure to large-scale data systems or storage platforms is a strong advantage.
• Experience with CI/CD, containerisation, and cloud-native development.
• Understanding of system reliability, observability, and performance tuning.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading teams.

Overview
The Mastercard Payment Networks team is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead high-performing teams building scalable and reliable backend systems.
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving technical delivery, ensuring engineering excellence, and building strong teams delivering complex distributed systems. This role requires a balance of technical depth, ownership, and strong execution focus.
You will lead teams working on systems that handle high-volume transaction data, provide secure and efficient access to backend services, and operate at global scale.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Execution
