Job summary

FactSet is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a data engineering team that builds intelligent, automated platforms to process large volumes of financial data and documents.

You will manage 5–8 engineers, guide architecture and critical implementations, and collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leadership to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • 8-12 years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in data engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is required.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in a product organization and strong architectural skills.

Over time, the team has developed a robust and high‑performing data pipeline capable of generating best-in‑class structured datasets that power FactSet’s products. Currently, the team is advancing this ecosystem by driving end‑to‑end automation across multiple stages of the pipeline. This includes the development of an event‑driven, GenAI‑centric, agent‑based infrastructure aimed at enhancing efficiency, scalability, and innovation in data processing workflows.

SUB‑PROCESS BRIEF

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing Data Engineering team focused on building intelligent, highly automated platforms that process large volumes of financial data and documents. This role combines strong technical leadership with engineering management and execution excellence. You will lead a team of 5–8 engineers while remaining hands‑on in architecture, design, and critical implementation decisions. You will work closely with Product, Architecture, and Engineering leadership to transform complex business problems into scalable engineering solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving difficult engineering challenges, coaching engineers, driving execution, and continuously improving engineering practices.

What You'll Do
Technical Leadership
  • Lead the architecture and development of scalable data engineering platforms.
  • Design highly reliable document processing and metadata extraction pipelines.
  • Drive automation‑first engineering practices across the organization.
  • Define technical direction and architectural standards for the team.
  • Review system designs and code to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Build cloud‑native solutions using AWS services and containerized deployments.
  • Optimize large‑scale data processing pipelines for speed, cost, and reliability.
  • Guide implementation of AI‑assisted automation and modern data engineering techniques.
Engineering Management
  • Lead a team of 5–8 engineers including Lead Software Engineers.
  • Drive project planning, execution, estimation, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Coach engineers and support their technical and professional growth.
  • Build an ownership‑driven engineering culture.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Identify execution risks early and proactively drive mitigation plans.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes, quality, and operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong experience with: Python Pandas NumPy PyArrow FastAPI PostgreSQL DynamoDB Redis Elasticsearch Amazon S3 Docker and containerized deployments Experience with: Document processing platforms Financial data engineering Metadata extraction Data lineage API‑first architectures Workflow automation Distributed data processing Cloud‑native application development on AWS.
  • 8-12 years of software engineering experience with strong expertise in data engineering.
  • Prior experience leading engineering teams in a product organization.
  • Strong architectural and system design skills.
  • Experience building scalable backend systems and high-volume data processing platforms.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with execution excellence.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working across multiple teams to drive technical alignment.
