Experian is seeking a seasoned Java Engineering Manager to lead our UKBI engineering team. The role focuses on Java, microservices, serverless architectures, Docker, EKS, and search technologies such as Solr/OpenSearch. You will drive incident resolution in production and manage a distributed search estate.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with data stakeholders, and stay ahead of industry trends to push innovation, quality, and reliability across delivery teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of total experience with 5+ years in Java, microservices, Python, SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• 5+ years of experience in people/teams management.
• Experience in search technologies such as Solr or OpenSearch.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Java Engineering Manager to lead our UKBI engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, microservices, serverless architecture, Docker, EKS and search technologies such as Solr or open search.

This role suits someone who hasresolved high-priority search incidentsin production and can work across adistributed, multi-clustersearch estate. Day-to-day operations demand strong distributed search systems knowledge, hands-on comfort with that stack is essential.

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive innovation within the team.
• Design, develop, and implement scalable software solutionsusing Java, microservices architecture, Docker, EKS, Search systems with Solr or Open Search, AWS services
• Ensure high quality software deliverythrough best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Actively participate in sprints, contributing hands‑on to software development and implementation.
• Maintain unit tests and contribute to test automationto ensure software reliability and maintainability.
• Manage risks and technical impediments, communicating with leadership to ensure project success.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issuesefficiently.
• Provide technical guidance and supportto team members as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10 Years of total experience and 5+ years of experience in java, microservices, python, SQL and NoSQL database technologies
• At least4 years of experience in managing people
• Drive AI adoption to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and operational efficiency.
• Experience in search technologies such as Solr or Open Search
• Expertise of AWS Services like EC2, EKS and Lambda.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

• Experience building AI-enabled solutions.
