Job summary

JioStar is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Frontend Product engineering team in Bengaluru. You will own delivery, quality, and growth for 6–10 frontend/product engineers, focusing on people management, technical direction, and cross-functional execution with Product and Design.

You will drive sprint planning, roadmap delivery, and balance feature work with tech debt, while upholding frontend architecture standards and performance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, including teams of 6–10 engineers.
• Hands-on experience as a frontend or full-stack engineer with modern frontend frameworks.
• Track record of shipping product features on time while maintaining code quality and team morale.
• Strong people-management skills: coaching, direct feedback, handling performance issues, and developing engineers.
• Experience partnering with Product and Design in a fast-paced, iterative product development environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Experience with agile/scrum practices, sprint planning, and roadmap prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and grow a team of 6–10 frontend/product engineers, including regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
• Own team execution: sprint planning, roadmap delivery, and balancing feature work with tech debt.
• Partner with Product Management and Design to translate business goals into a clear engineering roadmap.
• Set and uphold technical standards for frontend architecture, code quality, accessibility, and performance.
• Drive hiring: define role needs, participate in interviews, and build a strong, diverse pipeline.
• Identify and resolve process bottlenecks; continually improve velocity and quality.
• Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
• Foster a healthy, inclusive team culture with high psychological safety and craftsmanship.
• Stay close enough to technical details to review architecture decisions and unblock the team.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Frontend Product engineering team. This is a hands-off-keyboard leadership role focused on people management, technical direction, and cross-functional execution - partnering closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to ship high-quality software at a sustainable pace.

Skills and attributes for success:

• 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with at least one team in the 6–10 engineer range.
• Prior hands-on experience as a frontend or full-stack engineer, with strong technical fluency in modern frontend frameworks.
• Track record of shipping product features on time while maintaining code quality and team morale.
• Strong people-management skills: coaching, giving direct feedback, handling performance issues, and developing engineers into senior/staff roles.
• Experience partnering with Product and Design in a fast-paced, iterative product development environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Experience with agile/scrum practices, sprint planning, and roadmap prioritization.

Nice to Have

• Experience scaling a frontend team through a period of rapid product or company growth.
• Familiarity with design systems, component libraries.
