Job summary

Tata Consulting Engineers Limited in Mumbai seeks an experienced Architect to lead architectural design and sustainability integration across concept to execution stages. You will coordinate design with sustainability, MEP, and landscape teams to achieve energy-efficient, low-carbon solutions.

Typically 12–15 years in multidisciplinary environments on major projects, with 3+ years in managing design engineering teams, and postgraduate engineering degree with professional registration preferred.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline with design experience on major projects.
• Registration as a professional engineer with the governing authority is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure scope of work is developed and change management is in place.
• Provide input into monthly progress reports on design progress and risks.
• Contribute to project execution plans with leadership and allocate roles.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams for design delivery and approvals.
• Review drawings for quality, compliance, and design intent across stages.
• Engage internal and external specialists as needed for reviews.
• Raise safety awareness and ensure design for safety principles are applied.
• Carry out engineering risk assessments and address issues.
• Facilitate design reviews and participate in engineering and management reviews.

Purpose & Scope of Position

Architectural Design & Sustainability Integration

• Prepare architectural designs across concept, schematic, design development, and execution stages with a strong sustainability focus.
• Integrate passive design principles such as orientation, shading, daylighting, ventilation, and thermal performance.
• Coordinate architectural planning to support energy efficiency, water efficiency, and low‑carbon design strategies.
• Work closely with sustainability, MEP, and landscape teams to ensure integrated design outcomes.

Design Coordination & Project Delivery

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, authorities, and internal teams for seamless design delivery.
• Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews to ensure constructability and performance alignment.
• Coordinate with liaison teams for statutory approvals and sustainability documentation.
• Review architectural drawings and details for quality, compliance, and design intent at various project stages.

Experience

• Typically 12-15 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment on major projects
• Typically 3 years’ experience in managing design engineering teams working on major projects

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure the scope of work is developed and effective change management system is in place
2. Provide input into the monthly progress report with respect to design progress and issues of concern and recommended changes if required to achieve overall objectives
3. Contribute to the development of the project execution plan together with the project leadership team and allocate roles and responsibilities
4. Make Contact with client management at key milestones / tollgates throughout project to ensure that engineering deliverables are meeting client requirements.
5. Direct and review the engineering activities to ensure that the work quality is satisfactory and appropriate technical personnel development programs are conducted
6. Involve specialist expertise from within TCE or externally as necessary. work with Technology Organization and DHs for mandatory reviews
7. Raise safety awareness and ensure the design for safety principles are applied to the projects
8. Ensure Engineering risk assessments are carried out and all identified issues are addressed
9. Arrange and facilitate design reviews and participate as required in engineering and management reviews
10. Co-ordinate quality audit verifications to ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities. Instigate corrective actions as required.
11. Cooperate with the TCE engineering practice of other BU’s as directed on matters involving sharing of available expertise.
12. Responsible to ensure timely availability of inter-disciplinary data, integration of the same and resolution of any issues and challenges
13. Obtain regular feedback from customer and take appropriate action
14. Document value additions and best practices and ensure communication of the same to other project teams and leadership
15. Recommend rewards and recognition for exemplary performance from project resources
