Job summary

Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization is seeking a senior engineering leader to drive design, architecture, and delivery of key Marcom Digital Asset Management solutions at massive scale. You will mentor a team of engineers, own technical decisions, partner with business stakeholders, and ensure security, reliability, and scalable performance across global content workflows.

Description

Marcom's Digital Asset Management system (DAM) serves as the backbone repository of all in progress and completed assets used in Apple Marketing. Digital Asset Management focuses on developing a deep knowledge of Marcom's content development processes for a diverse portfolio of digital assets at massive scale. Using this knowledge and extensive experience with enterprise digital asset management, implement and evangelize solutions which will streamline Marcom's content management workflow. A key part of the job is understanding end-to-end business processes in the Asset Management realm and implementing solutions that meet these business needs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for design, architecture, and delivery of key applications, ensuring availability, security, reliability, and scalability at scale.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers — hire top talent and provide ongoing coaching to help them do their best work.
• Drive technical decision-making for the team and partner with other engineering managers and stakeholders on architecture, roadmap, and cross-team alignment.
• Partner closely with business and creative stakeholders to translate Marcom's content management workflows into scalable technical solutions.
• Stay hands-on where needed — contribute to design reviews, code, and complex problem-solving alongside the team.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive adoption of engineering best practices, secure coding standards, and Agile/continuous delivery methodologies.
• Proactively identify and resolve risks, bottlenecks, and production issues, keeping the team focused and unblocked across multiple concurrent workstreams.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience including at least 2 years of management experience leading engineers
• 5+ years of demonstrable experience building and maintaining large scale, distributed systems
• Demonstrable experience with Java 8, Spring, Spring Boot, Micro-service architecture and NoSQL DBs

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of secure coding practices and hands-on experience with open source technologies.
• Experience implementing SAAS/third-party products and building/deploying APIs for Digital Asset Management Systems.
• Ability to conduct performance analysis and resolve production issues in large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on manager who leads by example to motivate and challenge the team to deliver their best.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Comfortable with ambiguity — able to focus themselves and the team, and drive forward progress.
• Adept at prioritizing multiple workstreams in a dynamic environment, with experience in Agile methodologies and continuous software delivery.
• Highly proactive with both systems and people — anticipates needs and identifies where the team might struggle.
