Responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible to:

Product & Delivery

• Own product roadmap execution: Partner with Product and Data Science to translate customer needs into shipped features
• Drive cross-functional collaboration: Align priorities with Platform and GTM teams to deliver measurable impact
• Balance speed with quality: Scope features, manage commitments, and ship what matters most

Architecture & Technology

• Drive technical strategy: Make architecture decisions for LLM-powered systems at scale—balancing innovation with production reliability
• Set GenAI direction: Evaluate new capabilities, guide build vs. buy decisions, and optimize for cost/quality trade-offs
• Manage technical health: Address tech debt and ensure systems remain scalable, maintainable, and secure

People & Leadership

• Lead high-performing teams: Build and grow engineering teams shipping production AI systems used by thousands of customers
• Develop your people: Conduct 1:1s, career development, performance reviews, and create growth paths for engineers at all levels
• Drive hiring excellence: Source, interview, and close exceptional talent across SDE-2 through Staff levels

Process & Operational Excellence

• Champion engineering excellence: Establish best practices for code quality, testing, evaluation frameworks, and operational rigor
• Track what matters: Drive operational metrics including team velocity, system reliability, AI quality, and SLA adherence
• Optimize team delivery: Unblock engineers, allocate resources effectively, and maintain sustainable velocity

Must Have

Foundation

• 8+ years software engineering with 2+ years engineering management (teams of 5-10+)
• Strong technical foundation: backend systems, distributed architectures, cloud (AWS preferred)
• AI-native practitioner: Treats AI as core infrastructure, not a novelty—leverages coding assistants deeply, automates repetitive tasks with LLM, builds personal productivity systems, and brings a "try it with AI first" mindset to everything.

Product & Delivery

• Shipped complex products 0-to-1 and at scale, balancing speed with quality
• Strong product sense: translate ambiguous business needs into technical execution
• Excellent stakeholder management across executives, product, and cross-functional teams

Architecture & Technology

• Hands-on technical involvement: Design and review system architectures, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance to engineers
• Strong engineering fundamentals: Able to evaluate technical trade-offs, guide build vs. buy decisions, and spot design flaws early
• Track record of balancing innovation with production reliability, scalability, and maintainability

People & Leadership

• Proven hiring and scaling: recruited, onboarded, and developed engineers across levels
• Strong people developer: effective 1:1s, coaching, career growth, psychological safety

Process & Excellence

• Operational rigor: manage sprints, remove blockers, maintain velocity and team health
• Data-driven: use metrics, A/B testing, and analytics to guide decisions

Nice to Have

• Data Science or ML engineering background
• Production LLM systems experience (prompts, fine-tuning, evals, agents)
• High-growth startup or 0-to-1 AI product experience
• Technical depth in Python, FastAPI, Ray, vector databases
• SaaS/B2B/enterprise products, especially revenue or sales tech
• Open-source contributions or AI/ML thought leadership
