Job summary
Mercari India in Bengaluru is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead multiple engineering teams, drive organizational structure, and solve complex scaling challenges. You will recruit, coach, set goals, evaluate performance, and provide feedback while aligning technical decisions with Mercari's mission.
The role covers project coordination, growth strategy, and fostering an inclusive engineering culture. Experience with large-scale systems, microservices, cloud (GCP/AWS), and API design with Go

Responsibilities
- Leading teams and solving organizational issues to enable engineers to contribute more effectively.
- Manage recruiting, training, goal setting, evaluation and feedback for engineers.
- Allocate engineers to projects and facilitate required communications.
- Propose and execute growth strategies for the engineering organization.
- Plan and run in-house events to deepen technical and organizational understanding.
- Cultivate engineering culture and maintain a healthy tech stack.

- Maximizing the results of engineer members and supporting career their growth

- Strong experience in one of the following:
- Backend: Design, development, and operation of APIs using Go or PHP
- Machine Learning: ML modeling or development experience with ML systems
- Data Engineering : Architecture and development of large scale data/BI on cloud platforms, ETL (ie. DBT, Dataform, Informatica, Talend) and BI (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI)
- Knowledge of and experience with databases (RDBMS/NoSQL), networks, linux, monitoring systems, logging, operations, and SLO/SLA
- Development and operation using microservices architecture
- Cloud development experience (preferably GCP or AWS)
- Understanding of UI development
- OSS contribution experience / familiarity with the OSS community
