Job summary

Syndigo seeks a Senior Software Engineering Manager in Bengaluru to lead and grow a distributed team delivering large-scale SaaS platform features. You will own hiring, coaching, and performance management while ensuring delivery quality and architectural integrity.

You will collaborate with product, design, QA, DevOps, and customer teams to align roadmaps with business outcomes, promoting best practices and operational excellence. Hybrid work requires 2 days in office.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years of direct people management experience.
• Experience building, shipping, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production environments.
• Strong technical expertise with technologies such as Java, .NET, Python, or Node.js along with microservices and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and retaining engineering talent.
• Experience driving engineering best practices across quality, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Experience participating in architectural discussions and guiding technical decision‑making.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in SaaS, e-commerce, master data management (MDM), product information management (PIM), or data syndication domains (preferred).
• Experience leading distributed teams across multiple geographies (preferred).
• Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled product features (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 8–12 software engineers across multiple experience levels.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and retention initiatives.
• Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, establish clear goals, and provide constructive feedback to support team growth.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of roadmap commitments with a focus on quality, reliability, and timely execution.
• Partner with Product Management to prioritize roadmap initiatives while balancing feature delivery and technical investments.
• Manage sprint planning, estimations, dependency management, and risk mitigation across teams.
• Track and improve engineering metrics related to delivery, quality, operational health, and system reliability.
• Define and guide the technical direction for the team’s services and platforms.
• Promote engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and operational excellence.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and incident management activities.
• Drive improvements in scalability, reliability, performance, and technical debt reduction.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, DevOps, and customer-facing teams to align on priorities and business outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and senior leadership on progress, trade-offs, risks, and delivery expectations.
• Contribute to organization-wide engineering initiatives, hiring efforts, and process improvements.
