Job Title: Engineering Manager

Business & Team: Enterprise Services (ES) is responsible for leading the application of technology and operations across the organization. The Identity & Access Technology (IAT) team protects the bank from cyber compromise through proactive management of cyber security, privacy, and operational risk, including Cyber Protection & Design, Cyber Delivery, and Identity & Access Assurance.
Impact & Contribution: The CBA technology unit delivers digital banking services and supports over 53,000 employees by providing tools, technology, and resources to enhance work and customer experience.
Role Overview: This role is part of the Identity Engineering Chapter, a key function within Cyber Engineering practice.
- As an Engineering Manager, you are a technical subject matter expert (SME), consulting on technical strategies, product and feature designs, and playing a critical role in quality implementation and delivery.
- You will lead as a team manager and also be an individual contributor as a full‑cycle engineer, including automation development, systems integration, and contributing to platform evolution and business strategy.
- You will lead key projects that drive automation and optimisation, including design and deployment of secure, scalable infrastructure and services in cloud environments such as AWS.
- You will attend engineering guilds and participate in agile ceremonies to broaden expertise and shape how we operate.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and provide input to incidents, problems, changes, and projects that have a major impact on services.
- Oversee and ensure timely resolution of all major technical incidents, coordinating technical teams, structuring investigations, and communicating with business areas and senior stakeholders.
- Manage transitional elements of new services to BAU, ensuring support partners are skilled and capable.
- Influence relationship management with stakeholders, colleagues, and users to deliver high‑quality services while maintaining service targets.
- Apply strong analytical skills to resolve complex logical problems quickly.
- Analyse information sources and resolve conflicting viewpoints to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Maintain a flexible approach focused on delivery to deadlines and high standards.
- Bring extensive experience in managed services and service delivery environments, including technical and service management exposure.
Essential Skills
- 14+ years of solid operational experience with significant people‑management exposure.
- Domain knowledge in IAT, specifically authentication, SSO and MFA areas.
- Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
- Solid understanding of Ping Identity, Ping Directory, and the PING Suite of products for enterprise IAM.
- Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudFormation/Terraform).
- Experience with GitHub Actions for workflow automation.
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
- Hands‑on experience with TeamCity build configuration and Octopus Deploy.
- Good to have AI exposure.
- Relevant IT or business tertiary qualifications are desirable.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Education Qualification
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
