Job summary

Aion is seeking an experienced engineering leader to build and scale its enterprise AI platform from Bengaluru. You will drive system design, mentoring, and cross-functional execution across product, design, and customer success to deliver production-grade software.

You will guide architecture decisions, promote engineering excellence, and own the roadmap for scalable, secure platforms while balancing speed and reliability in a fast-moving startup context.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and scaling software platforms, distributed systems, or enterprise apps.
• 2+ years leading engineering teams in fast-moving startups or high-growth environments.
• Golang preferred; Python/Rust/Java/C++ a plus.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native apps and API design.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud platforms and IaC.
• Familiarity with AI infrastructure, LLM deployment and MLOps is desirable.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
• Strong understanding of security, authz, and enterprise deployment practices.

You're an experienced engineering leader who has built and scaled high-performing engineering teams while delivering complex software platforms from concept to production. You thrive at the intersection of technical leadership, product strategy, and execution, helping teams solve challenging engineering problems while maintaining a strong focus on customer outcomes.

You have a strong background in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, AI platforms, or enterprise software. You're comfortable making architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence, and collaborating across product, design, customer success, and leadership teams.

You're product-minded and understand that every technical decision impacts scalability, reliability, developer experience, and customer success. You enjoy working in fast-moving environments where ownership, execution, and innovation go hand in hand.

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Lead the design and development of Aion's core platform and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Drive high-level architecture discussions and establish engineering standards across multiple products and services.
• Make strategic technical decisions balancing product requirements, engineering velocity, and long-term platform sustainability.
• Review system designs, technical proposals, and implementation plans to ensure engineering excellence.

Engineering Management

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers.
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
• Establish engineering best practices across code quality, testing, documentation, security, and operational readiness.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development of engineering team members.

Product Delivery & Execution

• Partner closely with Product, Design, AI, Infrastructure, and Customer Success teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Drive project planning, execution, prioritization, and delivery across multiple engineering initiatives.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software while balancing technical debt and platform investments.
• Collaborate with customers to understand deployment challenges and translate feedback into product improvements.

Platform Reliability & Operations

• Build resilient, highly available systems capable of supporting enterprise-scale AI workloads.
• Drive improvements in platform performance, observability, monitoring, incident response, and operational excellence.
• Optimize development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and engineering productivity.
• Establish scalable engineering processes that support rapid company growth.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with executive leadership to align engineering strategy with business objectives.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to drive platform consistency, architectural alignment, and knowledge sharing.
• Represent engineering in customer discussions, technical workshops, and strategic planning sessions.
• Contribute to the long-term technology vision and roadmap for Aion's enterprise AI platform.

Technical Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience building and scaling software platforms, distributed systems, or enterprise applications.
• 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment.
• Strong proficiency in Golang is preferred. Experience with Python, Rust, Java, or C++ is a plus.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, cloud-native applications, and API design.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud platforms, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Strong knowledge of databases, caching systems, messaging platforms, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience building highly scalable, low-latency, production-grade systems.
• Familiarity with AI infrastructure, LLM deployment, inference systems, orchestration platforms, or MLOps is highly desirable.
• Experience implementing observability using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and distributed tracing.
• Strong understanding of software security, authentication, authorization, and enterprise deployment practices.

Bonus/ Good to Have

• AI Platform Engineering: Experience building AI platforms, model serving infrastructure, orchestration systems, or enterprise AI products.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes Operators, Terraform, or platform engineering.
• Enterprise Software: Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms, customer VPC deployments, or on-premises enterprise solutions.
• Developer Experience: Experience building internal developer platforms, SDKs, APIs, developer tooling, or engineering productivity platforms.
• Startup Leadership: Experience scaling engineering teams from early-stage startup to growth-stage organizations
