Job summary

Zoho is seeking a senior Power Systems Engineer to work on STATCOM/HVDC projects in Maharashtra. The role involves hands-on PSCAD modelling, RTDS simulations, and design validation for large grid assets. You will convert models between PSCAD/RSCAD and PSS/E formats, review technical documents, and manage project budgets while meeting tight timelines.

A Master’s degree in Power Systems is required, with 5–10 years of relevant experience. English communication is essential.

• Strong knowledge of power grid market & FACTS product offerings.
• Proficiency in PSCAD, PSS/E, and transformer/network modelling.

Responsibilities

• Lead STATCOM and HVDC project studies and coordination.
• Perform PSCAD/RTDS simulations and verify design concepts.
• Convert PSCAD to RSCAD and PSS/E to PSCAD/RSCAD with validation steps.
• Review client documents and address comments for approvals.
• Manage project budgets and drive on-time delivery.

Job Description

• Knowledge of overall FACTS/STATCOM/HVDC station operation behaviour and effects on Power System.
  
• Hands on experience in PSCAD software modelling, simulation, design validation etc. of large size grid and FACTS devices.
  
• Experience in PSCAD of modelling of Resistors, Inductors, Capacitors, Frequency dependent lines, Current & Voltage sources, Power Electronics devices, Analogy & Digital Control functions, Meters and Measuring functions, HVDC, SVC and Other FACT controllers etc.
  
• Contingency studies of AC networks, relay coordination, Insulation Coordination study, Sub synchronous resonance studies of networks with machines, transmission line, HVDC system.
  
• Control system design and coordination of FACTS and HVDC; including STATCOM, VSC, and cycloconverters, Optimal design of controller parameters.
  
• PSCAD to RSCAD conversion, verification and validation.
  
• PSS/E to PSCAD/RSCAD conversion, verification and validation.
  
• Plant modelling in PSCAD, RSCAD and verification of FACTS & HVDC.
  
• Hands on experience on RTDS Simulation of Closed Loop Control System.
  
• Review the approval documents and client’s comments for STATCOM projects.
  
• Manage the budget and save the cost for STATCOM projects.
  
• Responsible for the approval of documents and make a design concept for STATCOM projects.
  
• Report the progress of engineering and plan a catch-up (if required).
  
• Have a meeting with Consultants and Client.
  
• Support and solve technical issues with other engineers.
  
• Knowledge of STATCOM/HVDC system studies in PSS/E will have added advantage.
  

Requirements

• Experience: 5-10 (STATCOM/SVC/HVDC/FACTS/Substation field)
  
• Qualification: Master’s degree in Power System - Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  
• Must have knowledge of power grid market & FACTS product & system offerings.
  
• Good understanding of engineering procedures which are being followed in Turn-key segment.
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. (English) o Person willing to work in stringent timelines.
  
• Should be a team player and should be capable of handling jobs on set timeline.
