Job summary

Ather Energy Limited in Bengaluru seeks a Lead / Engineer - Supplier Quality for brakes, suspension and bearings. You will drive development, quality engineering and supplier improvements for critical mechanical components across projects.

With 8–12 years in automotive, you will lead RCA, CAPA, PPAP readiness, and IATF/ISO audits, ensuring metrology and measurement systems meet CTQ specs. This role collaborates with Engineering, Sourcing and Supplier teams to achieve top-quality parts.

Qualifications

• B Tech or BE in Mechanical/Automobile required.
• 8–12 years in Automotive OEM or Tier 1 with hands-on Development and Quality.

Responsibilities

• Deployment of Lessons learned and latest technology in new Project development.
• Record bugs (Quality issues), deviations and implement containment, RCA, corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead RCA on failures due to process and approve RCA Reports & CAPA.
• Supplier process audits and continual improvements.
• Gage/Tooling Approval: ensure supplier measurement systems and tooling are capable and calibrated.
• Preventive Maintenance of Supplier Manufacturing FTG and line setup at suppliers.
• Lead VAVE validation and implementation.
• Collaborate with Ather Engineering, Sourcing and Supplier teams on Design, Development and Manufacturing Quality.

Role: Lead / Engineer - Supplier Quality ( Brakes, Suspension and Bearings)

Reporting to: Lead of Supplier Quality

About the Team and the Role:

Development of Build To Spects (BTS) parts like Brakes, Suspension and Bearings to meet the Quality and Delivery requirements.

Performance monitoring of Brakes, Suspension, and Bearings commodities: Monitor key supplier quality metrics such as Defective Parts Per Million (PPM), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Straight Pass Ratio (SPR).

Driving improvement plans: Leading supplier improvements for non-conformities and supplier internal rejections, while driving technical development and quality engineering for critical 2-wheeler proprietary Mechanical components (Brakes, Suspension systems, and Bearings).

Responsibilities:

Deployment of Lessons learned and the latest technology in the new Project development.

Record bugs (Quality issues), deviations and implement appropriate containment, RCA, corrective and preventive actions.

Lead RCA on failures due to process and Approve RCA Reports & CAPA.

Supplier process audits and continual improvements.

Gage/Tooling Approval: Ensure supplier measurement systems and tooling (e.g., check fixtures, CMM programs) are capable and calibrated to measure critical-to-quality features and dimensions.

Preventive Maintenance of Supplier Manufacturing FTG: Drive for scheduled maintenance and restoration of Complete line set up at Supplliers.

Lead the VAVE validation and implementation.

Work closely with the Ather Engineering, Sourcing and Supplier teams to ensure highest levels of Design, Development and Manufacturing Quality.

Experience and Qualifications:

B Tech or Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical /Automobile.

Experience of 8~12 years in Automotive OEM or Tier 1 - hands on experience in Development and Quality.

Must Have Competencies:

Working experience: Hydraulic/Mechanical Braking systems, Front & Rear Suspension assemblies, and Precision Bearings.

Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in conducting detailed Root Cause Analysis and implementing effective 8D problem-solving methodologies.

Apply expert knowledge of PFMEA to identify and mitigate risks during the process design and and manufacturing stages

Execute advanced level Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure supplier manufacturing readiness and part compliance.

Apply advanced auditing skills in IATF and ISO standards to evaluate supplier Quality Management Systems and process compliance.

Hands-on experience in Metrology, MSA, SPC, Relation Gauges and GD&T.

Good to have Competencies :

Adjusting to change and giving Support to the cross functional team (CFT)

Collecting, Stratifying Data and Data interpretation to draw conclusions.
