Job summary

KLA is seeking a Software Test Engineer in India to join the CAPRES Metrology team, focusing on magnetic and electrical metrology tools. You will design and execute test strategies, automate tests, and work with hardware and software teams globally.

The role emphasizes end-to-end QA ownership, defect management, and continuous improvement of testing frameworks within an inclusive, tech-forward environment.

Qualifications

  • Up to 2 years of software test engineering experience.
  • Experience designing end-to-end test strategies.
  • Hands-on test automation experience with UI automation.
  • Familiarity with testing software that controls hardware is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of QA principles and defect management.

Responsibilities

  • Build and demonstrate strong domain expertise in CAPRES Magnetic & Electrical Metrology tools.
  • Own tasks from requirements analysis to feature validation and field issue resolution.
  • Participate in SDLC with thorough test coverage and best practices.
  • Review designs and suggest quality improvements.
  • Define and maintain quality standards and testing processes.
  • Own end-to-end QA for assigned features and validate fixes.
  • Develop detailed test plans with resource estimation.
  • Verify corrective and preventive actions meet standards.
  • Design and execute test cases to identify defects.
  • Analyze defects and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Suggest enhancements to improve performance and reliability.
  • Develop automated tests using KLA frameworks.
  • Enhance automation frameworks to meet project needs.
  • Create and run automated scripts using existing infra.
  • Collaborate with global teams across India, Denmark, and the US.
  • Work with Hardware, Systems, and Application Eng to translate requirements into tests.

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Optical Metrology Division products are used for optical overlay metrology. The portfolio of products includes unique solution packages which are based on hardware and software systems to enhance yield and effectiveness. As a world leader in its field of expertise, the division's products are the most advanced in performance (measurement accuracy of nanometers and below), reliability, ease of use and compatibility with other KLA's products. KLA (Israel) controls over 80% of the world market sales in its field, and its products are used by every major semiconductor manufacturer around the world. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. CAPRES (a KLA Company in Denmark) Division provides reliable and precise Fab-wide Magnetics and Electrical Metrology solutions. The portfolio of products MicroSense® PKMRAM and MicroSense® KerrMapper tools includes unique solution packages which are based on hardware and software systems to enhance yield and effectiveness in Process development and optimization of magnetic film properties for MRAM offers high field capabilities and low field resolution to characterize free and pinned layer properties in a single system by combining the high speed of static random access memory (SRAM) and the high density of DRAM, MRAM (Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory) promises to significantly improve electronic products by storing greater amounts of data, enabling faster data access and consuming less energy than existing electronic memory.

  • Build and demonstrate strong domain expertise in CAPRES Magnetic & Electrical Metrology tools.
  • Independently own and drive activities from requirements analysis through feature validation and field issue resolution.
  • Actively participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring comprehensive test coverage in accordance with established best practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Review software designs and provide recommendations to improve product quality, efficiency, and overall business value.
  • Define, implement, and maintain quality standards, testing methodologies, processes, and procedures.
  • Take complete ownership of end-to-end QA activities for assigned features, ensuring timely and effective validation.
  • Perform and coordinate software requirements verification, including allocation, traceability, and testability assessments.
  • Develop detailed test plans, including resource estimation and allocation.
  • Validate that corrective and preventive actions meet defined quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Design and execute test cases to identify software defects and functional issues.
  • Analyze, document, and track defects discovered during testing, and provide comprehensive test reports.
  • Recommend enhancements to improve software performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Develop automated test solutions using KLA’s automation frameworks to validate functionality, performance, and robustness.
  • Enhance and customize automation frameworks to meet evolving project requirements.
  • Create and execute automated test scripts utilizing existing automation infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with global teams across India, Denmark, and the United States throughout the product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, test planning, test design, and test execution.
  • Partner with Hardware, Systems, and Application Engineering teams to understand system requirements and translate them into effective software testing strategies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Up to 2 years of experience in Software Test Engineering, with exposure to software quality assurance processes, testing methodologies, and best practices.
    • Experience in designing and executing end-to-end test strategies and plans for software features is an advantage.
    • Hands-on experience in the planning, design, and execution of both functional and non-functional testing.
  • Exposure to testing software applications that integrate with and control multiple hardware components is highly desirable.
  • Practical experience in test automation, including the development and execution of automated test suites across the software testing lifecycle.
    • Familiarity with C#-based UI automation frameworks is preferred.
    • Experience in developing, customizing, and maintaining automation frameworks is considered a strong plus.
  • Good understanding of software testing principles, defect management processes, and quality assurance standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams throughout the software development and testing lifecycle.
