Job summary

Qualcomm India Private Limited is seeking an experienced embedded Linux software engineer to lead IoT projects from concept to product. You will work with large engineering teams across software, hardware, marketing, and customer engineering to deliver robust Linux-based solutions for SoCs.

The role requires strong C/C++, Linux kernel and driver knowledge, Yocto/Ubuntu/Debian experience, and hands-on debugging across the full software stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in relevant field with 4+ years of software engineering experience or higher degree with more experience
• 3+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python
• Strong Linux development experience focusing on Yocto, Ubuntu, Debian distributions
• Strong hands-on Linux kernel and internals understanding and SOC bring-up experience
• Hands-on experience with Linux distros: Ubuntu, RedHat-like, and related concepts (systemd, SELinux, Docker, containers)
• Experience with multimedia subsystems like Camera, Video, Audio, Display
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills across teams

Responsibilities:

• Lead deliver and drive large IOT projects based on Linux
• Work with large, diversified engineering teams, product marketing, business teams and Customer Engineering teams.
• Responsible for life cycle of the project end-to-end right from Software conceptualization to product commercialization with customers
• Working on the execution of Software products for New SoCs from Pre- Silicon till commercialization.
• Hands on approach to understand intricate issues, debug and drive to closure
• Past experience in Linux Distros (Yocto, Ubuntu, Debian) for embedded products
• Hands-on tech experience in Embedded Systems. Proficiency in coding, design and implementation. Coding experience in C/C++, Android/Linux, Drivers/Frameworks, end-to-end software stack
• Strong understanding of system architecture, kernel development, and device drivers.
• Strong exposure to chipset architecture and end-to-end system aspects from software perspective
• Past working experience in one or more of the areas – Multimedia, Linux, Core Platform, Ethernet Protocols, Power/Performance

Requirements:

• Bachelors/Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Strong development experience with C/C++ and good programming skills.
• Strong communication skills and analytics skills
• Proven experience in Linux development, with a strong focus on Yocto, Ubuntu, and Debian distributions.
• Strong hands-on experience on Ubuntu, RedHat like Linux Distros and understanding of Linux related concepts like systemd, SELinux, Snaps, Sandboxing, Container, Docker, etc.
• Strong understanding of Linux kernel and internals.
• Strong understanding of SOC systems and related concepts, including bring-up.
• Good know-how of Multimedia subsystems like Camera, Video, Audio, Display and Graphics.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Strong hands-on experience with troubleshooting software and system issues.
• Strong hands-on experience with full software development life cycle including design, implementation, deployment and support.
• Strong aptitude, quick learner, self-motivated, willing to explore and work across breadth of various technology areas.
• Deductive problem solving, good verbal and written communication skills for collaboration across teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

• Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• OR
• PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
