Job summary

Emerson in Tamil Nadu, India seeks an experienced Production Lead to coordinate daily assembly planning and monitor execution to meet FAT and shipment timelines. The role emphasizes lean implementation, 5S, safety, and strong teamwork with unionized workers.

You will drive capacity planning, monitor WIP and defects, and ensure compliance with ISO standards while guiding a skilled workforce toward continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree/diploma in Mechanical or Instrumentation with supervisory experience in valve manufacturing.
  • Minimum 10 years in engineering/valve industries, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience handling unionized workforces and audits to ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily production plan for assembly based on releases and priorities.
  • Monitor Plan vs Actual and address gaps.
  • Ensure timely valve readiness for FAT and shipment planning.
  • Monitor WIP aging and enforce FIFO.
  • Improve capacity utilization and operator efficiency; reduce nonproductive time.
  • Monitor equipment and arrange replacements per capacity demand.
  • Implement lean practices (Kanban, Kaizen, 6S) and develop Best Practices.
  • Coordinate outside processing for parts blasting and primer painting.
  • Maintain 5S and safety in the workplace.
  • Reduce defects and customer complaints through process adherence.

Job description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Preparing the daily production plan for assembly based on the planning releases and priorities.
  • Daily Monitoring on Plan Vs Actual and take actions to address the gap.
  • Effective execution on production plan to ensure the timely valve readiness for FAT and shipment plan.
  • Daily monitoring on WIP aging and ensure FIFO.
  • Effective capacity utilization, Operators efficiency and effectiveness monitoring to act on reducing the nonproductive time.
  • Periodically monitor all the equipment in shop and to act for replacement and additional requirements based on capacity demand.
  • Implement and sustain lean practices (Kanban, Kaizen events, 6S, etc.) and develop Best Practices and Procedures.
  • Capable to effectively handle the unionized work force to adhere all the standard norms in a disciplined way.
  • Responsible for operator multi-skilling on various assembly and testing activities for effective utilization of resources with high flexibility.
  • Responsible to coordinate for outside processing of Parts blasting and primer painting.
  • Maintain high level of 5S and Safety with the disciplined team and workplace.
  • Ensure the adherence of all process requirements to reduce the defects and customer complaint.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the necessary skills to effectively apply technology and systems specific to the department required.
  • Basic knowledge on Control Valves assembly, testing and Instruments function.

  • Experience in ISO 14001:2015 - ISO 45001:2018 - ISO 9001:2015, Capable to face audits - ISO and OHSAS.
  • Knowledge on valve assembly & testing fixtures etc.
  • Basic knowledge on machining and geometrical tolerances.

  • General understanding on special processes – Welding, Heat treatment, Surface treatment and Painting.

  • Ability to handle the team of unionized work men and contract work men to have a smooth operation.

  • Knowledge on Oracle

  • Able to sustain 5S & safety requirements in his work area.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical / Instrumentation having Minimum 10 years’ experience in Engineering / Valve industries in production field and working in factory in a supervisory capacity for period of not less 5 than years.
  • Having strong experience to handle the team of unionized workmen.
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the necessary skills to successfully apply technology and systems specific to the department required.
  • Experience in ISO 14001:2015 - ISO 45001:2018 - ISO 9001:2015 procedures & instructions and handle the internal and external audits as and when required.
  • Oracle ERP working experience.
