Job summary

RE1055 GE Renewable Energy Technologies Private Limited in Tamil Nadu is seeking a Design/ Product Engineer to develop, analyze and validate complex drives for High Voltage Switchgear products. You will deliver designs per specifications, cost, quality standards and timelines.

The role emphasizes value engineering, risk assessment, and collaboration with global teams to ensure accurate design delivery and documentation for manufacturing and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed/ accredited university.
• 2-5 years experience in design, development and validation of mechanical products and assemblies.
• HV/MV switchgear drives design & development experience would be an added advantage.
• Experience with Creo Parametric or similar 3D CAD tools.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and related tools.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to engage with cross-functional and global teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, Analysis & Validation of HV/MV switchgear drive components, sub-assemblies, assemblies.
• Value engineering of existing designs complying with standards and requirements.
• Study project specifications and assess complexity and risks.
• Abate risk by design, calculations and simulations per GE guidelines.
• Document technical data per engineering policies and procedures.
• Review design drawings/documents for error-free and timely delivery.
• Develop parts of the product with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Prepare for design reviews with project teams/management.
• Review prototypes and validate with internal/external test facilities.
• Review and release drawings/documentation for manufacturing and testing.
• Interact with Global R&D and competence centers on technical matters.
• Complete assigned work timely with appropriate effort and standards.

Job Description Summary

The Design/ Product Engineer demonstrates high level of technical skills needed to Design, Develop, Analysis and Validate complex drives for High Voltage Switchgear products. The design engineer shall deliver the design as per Specifications, Cost, Quality standards & within planned timeline

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, Analysis & Validation of High Voltage Switchgear drive Components, Sub-Assemblies, Assemblies.
• Value engineering of existing designs using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures and product / program requirements.
• Study of Project specifications & assessment of complexity and risks.
• Abatement of Risk by Design, Calculations and simulations based on GE’s design guidelines and software tools.
• Documentation of technical data, consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
• Responsible for reviewing design drawings/documents, ensuring error free and timely design delivery.
• Responsible for development of parts of the product designed aligning with cross functional teams and suppliers
• Responsible for checking the design and prepare for design reviews with project teams/management.
• Responsible for reviewing the prototype and validate it with internal/external test facilities.
• Responsible for review & release of drawings/documentation for manufacturing and testing.
• Interact with Global R & D and competence centers on technical matters.
• Completes assigned work in a timely manner with appropriate level of effort, following applicable practices, methods and standards.
• Handles multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizes work appropriately.
• Documentation of design records with appropriate details

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed/ accredited university.
• 2 - 5 years of experience in design, development and validation of mechanical products and assemblies.
• Experience in design & development of HV/MV switchgear drives would be an added advantage.
• Experience on 3D CAD tools like Creo Parametric or similar.
• Experience on Microsoft office and tools.
• Good oral/written communication skills in English.
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to engage and communicate effectively with cross functional and global teams.
