Job summary

D-tech Management Resource in Odisha is seeking an experienced Ceramic Engineer to lead refractory operations within iron and steel environments. You will supervise lining applications, inspect castable and insulation works, plan manpower, and ensure 5S/TPM compliance on site.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Ceramic Engineering is required.
• Experience in execution of refractory jobs in steel/melting environments preferred.
• Rich experience in Operations suitable for large integrated steel plants.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality and chemical composition of refractories items.
• Supervise lining procedures and drawings for masons.
• Lead trials with new materials to increase refractory life.
• Identify underperforming refractories and implement corrective actions.
• Calculate costing of refractories used in SMS.
• Coordinate material availability with Purchase and shop floor.
• Maintain 5S and TPM in Refractory and Ladle areas; train manpower.
• Regularly check EAF lining condition and guide repairs.
• Plan shifts and manpower; upskill team.
• Ensure timely availability of ladle and arc furnace equipment.
• Apply refractories by gunning, shotcreting, PCPF blocks & bricks.
• Inspect Castable, Ceramic Fibre, and Insulation Brick linings; monitor thermal conditions.
• Review refractory test reports and drawings; coordinate with client/consultants.
• Detailing and team supervision; progress reporting.
• Support other engineering/inspection activities as required.

Job description

To ensure the quality and chemical composition of all the refractories items.

To ensure the lining procedure and drawing pattern to our masons, which is received by the party.

To increase the refractory life by doing trials with new materials.

Identify all refractories items of bad performances & implement action plan to reduce it.

To calculate the costing of all the refractories used in SMS.

To ensure material availability in shop floor and coordination with Purchase team

To maintain 5S and Housekeeping in Refractory and Ladle area and lead in TPM activities.

To regularly check EAF lining condition and guide team for repairing

To plan manpower for shifts and do trainings to improve manpower skill

To ensure timely availability of ladle, arc furnace for smooth production

To relieve Ladle Engineer

Application of refractory by gunning, shotcreting , PCPF blocks & bricks.

Inspection of Castable Lining, Ceramic Fibre Lining and Insulation Brick Lining works

Inspection of refractory related insulation works, thermal scanning and imaging for condition monitoring.

Coordination of refractory testing requirements and review of test reports

Checking and review of refractory drawings

Coordination with client/ consultants

Detailing & team supervision

Progress Reporting

Any other engineering / inspection activity as required for the project.

Good knowledge of Indian and international codes and standards applicable for Refractory and insulation is required.

QUALIFICATION: Diploma /Degree in Ceramic Engineering.

Note: Diploma/Degree of any other branches can be considered only for the candidate having rich experience of Operations

EXPERIENCE: 6-9 Years of relevant experience in execution of various refractory jobs in Operations / Steel Melting Shop/ The candidate must have sound knowledge about the selection & application of refractories in different units of iron zone for large & integrated Steel Plant.
