Job summary

A leading mining equipment provider in India is searching for a production manager to enhance efficiency within manufacturing lines. The ideal candidate will have 7–15 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing environments and a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles. Responsibilities include overseeing product assembly, guiding junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. This full-time role includes both office and on-site supervision in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

  • 7–15 years of experience in a supervisory role in manufacturing.
  • Proven people-handling experience with a unionized workforce.
  • Hands-on knowledge in data analytics; Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of automation and modern production technologies.
  • Experience in automotive or underground mining equipment industry preferred.

  • Plan, monitor, and control product manufacturing and assembly.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing.

Job Description

Responsible for improving the efficiency and capacity of existing production lines, supporting the introduction of new products, ensuring a safe & secured work environment within the plant, and maintaining or improving product quality in line with determined standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, monitor and control product manufacturing / assembly.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and lower production costs.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to junior production engineers, technicians, and machine operators.
  • Develop and oversee quality control procedures, including ISO standards compliance and root cause analysis of production defects.
  • Manage capacity planning and process layout to meet on‑time delivery requirements of local and export orders.
  • Guide and motivate people to work towards highest levels of efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure timely execution of new product development projects in coordination with Engineering, Operations, Development / Manufacturing Engineering, and Sourcing.
  • Strive for cost reduction and continuous quality improvement.
  • Collate, analyze, and present inputs for monthly reporting.
  • Promote a safe working environment in line with regulations.
  • Maintain quality and environmental management systems (IMS – ISO 9000/ISO 14000 compliance for assembly).
  • Evaluate and improve systems & procedures in line with TQM, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Kanban, etc.
Key Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
Experience
  • 7–15 years of experience in a supervisory role within a production environment, preferably in manufacturing industries.
  • Proven people‑handling experience, especially with a unionized workforce.
  • Experience improving processes using lean methods.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Hands‑on knowledge in data analytics; Six Sigma certifications are an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of automation and modern production technologies; understanding of Industry 4.0.
  • Experience working in automotive or underground mining equipment industry is preferred.
