Job summary

Comcast is seeking a senior DevOps engineer to contribute to complex engineering projects, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement new products. You will engage with vendors and internal teams to ensure reliable systems and on‑call readiness.

You should bring deep Linux experience and strong automation skills. The role requires hands-on work with CICD tools, scripting, NoSQL databases, Kafka streams, and cloud platforms, plus excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux and open source platforms in a DevOps setup.
• Hands-on experience with CICD/devops tools such as GitHub, Ansible, and Artifactory.
• Scripting and development skills related to automation.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (Cassandra, Mongo, Redis, etc.).
• Experience with streaming processing software (Kafka) and cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, OpenStack and other PaaS cloud platforms.
• Experience with monitoring tools like ELK, Prometheus and Grafana.
• Excellent communication and ability to write guides and docs.
• Willingness to support production systems and on-call duties.

• Lead or mentor junior engineers and project teams when needed.
• Coordinate with vendors, engineering, and operations to meet priorities.

Job Summary

Responsible for participating as an individual contributor in project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, new product implementation, implementing existing products and services and the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. Interfaces with vendors, engineering and peer operations organizations. Acts in compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies and procedures. Provides technical leadership to junior Engineers and project teams. Has in‑depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Core Responsibilities

• 8+ years of experience with Linux, and open source platforms and/or Cloud native system in a DevOps setup.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience of using standard CICD/devops tools such as GitHub, Ansible, and Artifactory.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience with scripting and/or development as it relates to automation.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience with NoSQL (Cassandra, Mongo, Redis etc.).
• 1+ year experience of using Python
• 5+ years of experience with streaming processing software (Kafka) .
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, OpenStack and other PaaS cloud platforms.
• Experience with ELK Stack (Elastic Search, logstash, Kibana) for monitoring.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana collection and monitoring.
• Track record of managing multiple priorities and competing demands.
• Willingness to support production systems and to be part of on‑call.
• Excellent in troubleshooting Java application and network related issues.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Experience in writing technical system admin guides, installation guides and troubleshooting guides
• Working knowledge of network principles such as DHCP and TFTP is desired.
