Job description

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

Community You Will Join: The Employee Relations team operates as a Center of Excellence within Airbnb’s People team. ER professionals are not simply case handlers - they are strategic partners who build the frameworks, guidelines, and operating principles that uphold Airbnb’s culture at scale. This role shapes how the organization navigates complex workplace matters with consistency, fairness, and integrity. You will partner across Talent (HR), Legal, and business leadership to drive sound decision-making rooted in trust, mutual respect, and accountability. Success is not measured by cases closed - it is measured by the quality of outcomes, the strength of the practices we embed across the organization, and whether our work reinforces the culture and values that make Airbnb great.

Responsibilities
  • Manage intake and prioritization of ER cases; conduct end‑to‑end investigations, including evidence gathering, credibility determinations, written investigation reports, and recommend appropriate courses of action with minimal guidance.
  • Interview parties with psychological safety, neutrality, and cultural sensitivity; collaborate with Legal to ensure compliance with laws across APAC geographies.
  • Advise Talent (HR) and management on ER issues, trends and risks to foster sound business decisions; counsel on performance issues and complex disciplinary matters.
  • Lead ER investigations across functions and regions in partnership with Talent, Legal, and compliance teams.
  • Develop, socialize, and roll out ER processes, strategy, approach, guidelines, and operating procedures. Maintain strong working relationships with global ER, Talent, Legal, and Compliance teams.
  • Deliver training offerings and conduct training for leaders, managers, and employees; proactively identify trends through data analysis to inform process improvements.
  • Collect, analyse, interpret ER data; maintain organized case management systems and adapt ER programs to business needs.
  • Coordinate statutory commitments such as the POSH Committee in India; monitor evolving labor laws and update internal practices accordingly.
  • Support the Employee Relations framework for the client groups within the Global Capability Center in India.
Your Expertise
  • 10+ years of Employee Relations / Human Resources experience, including managing investigations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse large, complex data sets and synthesise competing evidence into clear findings.
  • Proven track record of influencing stakeholders at all seniority levels.
  • Knowledge of employment‑related state and federal laws and regulations; expertise in ER, labor relations, training, conflict resolution, and investigations with minimal guidance.
  • Experience supporting a Global Capability Centre / shared‑services / multi‑national matrix environment.
  • Comfortable leveraging generative AI tools to accelerate daily tasks.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate employment risks with sound business acumen.
  • Disciplined with confidentiality and discretion; strong judgment and decision‑making skills.
  • Self‑motivated and able to prioritise in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
  • Willingness to work across APAC and US time zones and outside core hours as required.
  • Some travel may be required.
