Job summary

Agiliad is seeking an Automotive Test Engineer to validate CustomerSpecific Network Stack and systems over automotive data link layers, ensuring compliance, interoperability, and robustness across architectures.

The role emphasizes end-to-end data link validation from PHY to application, supporting safety-critical, real-time automotive networking applications with Linux and embedded systems experience.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience in automotive data link validation across PHY to application layers.
• Experience with embedded Linux environments and real-time constraints.
• Proficient in using automotive test and compliance tools.
• Experience debugging PHY, MAC, and protocol stacks across CAN/LIN/J1939.
• Familiarity with validation processes used in automotive projects.

Responsibilities

• Validate CustomerSpecific Network Stack/System applications end-to-end from PHY to application layers.
• Identify, analyse, and debug issues across PHY/MAC/Ethernet drivers and CAN/LIN/J1939 stacks.
• Work in Linux/embedded systems environments and use Trace32 for debugging.
• Use Vector tools for Ethernet, CAN, LIN, J1939 testing; employ Spirent for compliance testing.
• Analyze logs, traces, and captures to isolate defects and improve reliability.
• Automate test execution using Python, Shell, CAPL or equivalent; build reusable tests for multiprotocol validation.
• Document defects and contribute to validation plans and reports.

Role Overview

The Automotive Test Engineer is responsible for validating CustomerSpecific Network Stack/System applications operating over Automotive data link layer to ensure compliance, interoperability, robustness, and performance across invehicle network architectures. The role focuses on endtoend data link layer validation from PHY to application layers in accordance with automotive standards and OEM requirements.

This position supports the delivery of safetycritical, realtime, and highreliability automotive networking system applications.

Required Skills with 3-5 years of experience -

Core Automotive Data Link Knowledge

• Strong understanding of Automotive communication protocols, including:
  • Automotive Ethernet (IEEE 802.3, 100BASET1 / 1000BASET1)
  • CAN / CAN FD
  • LIN
  • SAE J1939
• Solid grasp of Ethernet architecture, IEEE 802.3 standards, and TCP/IP fundamentals
• Clear understanding of the OSI model and protocol interactions across layers
• Knowledge of automotive ECU architectures, gateways, and domain controllers

Debugging & SystemLevel Expertise

• Ability to identify, analyse, and debug issues across:
  • PHY, MAC, and Ethernet drivers
  • CAN/LIN/J1939 stacks
  • Firmware and application layers
• Understanding of interactions between network drivers, firmware, and applications
• Experience working in Linux and embedded systems environments
• Debugging using Trace32

Tools & HandsOn Experience

• Handson experience with automotive test and compliance tools such as:
  • Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer for Ethernet, CAN, LIN, J1939)
  • Compliance and traffic tools (e.g., Vector, Spirent)
• Proficiency in:
  • Protocol analysers and packet sniffers (Wireshark, CANoe trace analysis)
  • Traffic generators and communication adapters
• Experience analysing logs, traces, and packet captures to isolate defects

Professional & Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
• Ability to work independently as well as in crossfunctional teams (HW, SW, integration)
• Excellent documentation, defect reporting, and communication skills
• Familiarity with structured development and validation processes used in automotive projects

Automation & Scripting

• Experience automating test execution using:
  • Scripting languages such as Python, Shell, CAPL or equivalent
  • Test frameworks or toolspecific automation (e.g., CANoe test modules)
• Ability to build reusable automated tests for multiprotocol validation

Education

• Graduation or Masters degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)/ Automotive Engineering/ Telecommunications or a related technical field
• Training in

  • Networking and protocol stack development/testing

Candidates with equivalent handson industry experience in automotive networking and validation is preferred
