Job summary

Ayr designs and manufactures critical power grid equipment is seeking an embedded systems engineer to own firmware from architecture to production for condition monitoring systems, power electronics, and grid-edge devices.

You will work across hardware and software interfaces, bridging prototypes to field deployment while applying ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR principles to ensure safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Strong C/C++ fundamentals in bare-metal, RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr), and embedded Linux environments.
• Experience with automotive/industrial protocols: CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, Modbus, IEC61850.
• Proficient with debugging tools: JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware bring-up workflows.
• Experience with Git, Make/CMake, and Agile development practices.
• Nice to have: ISO 26262 functional safety, AUTOSAR, or ECU development.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across hardware-software interfaces.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews, FMEA, and qualification testing across product lines.

As an embedded systems engineer, you will bring automotive-grade embedded engineering discipline to a greenfield product environment, owning firmware from architecture through production deployment across condition monitoring systems, power electronics, and grid-edge devices. What you'll do

• Design and develop firmware for asset condition monitoring systems and high-power electronics platforms.
• Run schematic reviews and support hardware bring-up i.e. bridging hardware and software from early prototype through field deployment
• Implement and maintain CAN, LIN, Modbus, IEC61850 etc communication stacks
• Apply automotive embedded architecture principles (ISO 26262, AUTOSAR) to power electronics and monitoring applications
• Collaborate with hardware, power electronics, and product teams on system requirements and interface definitions
• Participate in design reviews, FMEA, and qualification testing across product lines

Qualifications
