Emerson is seeking a highly skilled embedded software engineer to design, develop, and integrate real-time firmware for next-generation controller products. You will join small, autonomous teams, collaborating with global Scrum teams to drive products from definition through production release.
You will contribute across hardware-software integration, debugging, and performance optimization, applying Agile practices and CI/CD to deliver reliable, high-quality systems.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
8–15 years of experience in Embedded Software/Firmware Development on Intel x86 and ARM-based processors/controllers, preferably within Industrial Automation and Control Systems domains.
Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming, with extensive experience in developing high-performance, reliable, and safety-critical embedded software.
Hands-on experience in Board Support Package (BSP), device driver, middleware, and application firmware development on VxWorks and Embedded Linux platforms.
Proven expertise in hardware board bring-up, firmware integration, and performance optimization.
Strong understanding of boot architectures and startup sequences, including experience with U-Boot, GRUB, MLO, secure boot, firmware upgrade mechanisms, and system recovery processes.
Experience in real-time embedded software design and development using multi-threaded and multi-process architectures under VxWorks or other commercial RTOS environments.
Expertise in debugging and performance analysis of complex real-time systems using Wind River Workbench, GDB, JTAG debuggers, trace tools, memory analyzers, and RTOS debugging utilities.
Good understanding and implementation experience of industrial communication protocols commonly used in PLC systems, like EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINE, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, DNP3.
Experience integrating and validating industrial communication protocol stacks into embedded firmware and control applications.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, network diagnostics, and cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems.
Experience in embedded board bring-up, hardware-software integration, and troubleshooting using Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Protocol Analyzers, JTAG/Boundary Scan Tools
Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics, processor datasheets, memory maps, FPGA interfaces, and peripheral specifications.
Experience with software development lifecycle practices including:
Familiarity with industrial automation standards, reliability requirements, and firmware quality processes for mission-critical control systems.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills with the ability to solve complex system-level issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams involving hardware, firmware, systems, and product engineering.
Self-driven and highly organized professional with demonstrated capability to identify technical challenges, propose innovative solutions, and successfully drive implementation through completion.
