Job summary

Globals seeks an Embedded Security Engineer to assess and improve firmware security on embedded systems with RTOS and Embedded Linux, including drone/UAV platforms. You will perform firmware extraction, memory analysis and reverse engineering using industry tools.

Responsibilities include firmware analysis, boot process understanding, and using tools like Ghidra, Binwalk, OpenOCD, QEMU, and Wireshark. Strong C/C++, Python skills and hardware-software integration are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded systems development.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for embedded software development.
• Hands-on experience with Embedded Linux distributions (e.g., Yocto, Buildroot).
• Proven experience in board bring-up and hardware-software integration.
• Strong knowledge of Linux kernel driver development and debugging.
• Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, UDP, sockets programming).
• Experience in firmware development for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, AVR).
• Familiarity with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
• Knowledge of wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee).
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and vulnerability mitigation techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Static and dynamic analysis of embedded firmware.
• Strong understanding of embedded boot processes and firmware execution flow.
• Tools: Ghidra, Binwalk, GDB, IDA Pro, Radare2, objdump/readelf/nm/strings, QEMU, strace/ltrace.
• OpenOCD, avrdude, JTAG/SWD toolchains (J-Link, ST-Link, CMSIS-DAP).
• Flashrom – SPI/NOR flash dumping and analysis.

About Job Role:
