Embedded Engineer Curriculum
NIAT (NxtWave Institute of Advanced Technologies) Full-time On-site
About the Role
You will build NIAT's embedded systems curriculum. You will own the content, the lab setup and the student hardware kits and projects, so that students graduate able to design, program, debug and deploy real embedded system products, with work that meets industry expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop the complete embedded systems curriculum: syllabus, learning outcomes, lesson plans, slides, lab guides, reference code and assessments.
- Create hands-on content in embedded C/C++, STM32 (registers, HAL/LL, timers, interrupts, DMA, ADC), communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN), RTOS and low-power design.
- Build content on Linux systems and internals, Embedded Linux and Raspberry Pi programming, including boot flow, processes and memory, device interfacing and drivers.
- Plan and set up the embedded labs: development boards, debuggers, bench equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies), toolchains and Linux environments.
- Design, prototype and test current and future student kits, covering component selection, firmware, documentation and cost-effective scaling across campuses.
- Dry-run every lab and experiment end to end before rollout, checking code, wiring, kits and software environments.
- Design projects, capstones and assessments: lab practical, quizzes, project reviews and viva, with clear rubrics.
- Prepare debugging guides, code templates and troubleshooting material to support faculty and students.
- Gather feedback from faculty and students, and keep the curriculum aligned with industry tools, practices and placement needs.
- Work closely with the Lead Hardware Engineer and the curriculum team to keep content and labs consistent across campuses.
Must-Have
- B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech/M.E in ECE, EEE, Embedded Systems, CSE or a related field.
- Minimum 1.5+ years of hands-on experience building embedded software/firmware projects, in industry, research or product development.
- Strong embedded C, with working knowledge of C++ and Python.
- Hands-on STM32 experience: peripherals, interrupts, timers, DMA and debugging with SWD/JTAG.
- Experience with ESP32, Arduino, CAN, MQTT or IoT cloud platforms.
- Raspberry Pi programming experience, including GPIO and interfacing sensors and peripherals.
- Good understanding of Linux systems and internals: kernel basics, processes, memory management, file systems, boot process and shell scripting.
- Solid grasp of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART) and hands-on debugging with an oscilloscope and logic analyzer.
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and document them for undergraduate students.
- Git-based workflows, version-controlled lab repositories and Continuous Integration for firmware.
Good to Have
- Experience with an RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
- Linux device driver development eg; Buildroot and Yocto.
- Experience designing PCBs, hardware kits or lab setups for training or product use.
- Prior experience creating technical content, training material or courses, or teaching/mentoring.
What We Look For in Your Application
- GitHub, a project portfolio or project videos showing embedded systems or firmware you have built.
- The selection process includes a technical interview and a curriculum design or demo session.
Why Join
- Build a curriculum, labs and student kits, with real ownership of the outcome.
- Learn and grow working directly under an experienced lead.
- See your content and kits used by students across NIAT's multi-campus network.
- Grow into curriculum ownership, lead or R&D roles.
